I had a uni knee replacement surgery on Saturday. I came home from hospital on tuesday. My knee is very sore and keep topping up on pain killers. Wondered if anyone could give me a clue as to how long this severe pain and swelling lasts.

I have no idea because I am going into the 2nd year. Wish I had never had it done

It could last longer if you will not take proper medical action. You should have yourself checked the soonest. Swelling and pain on the operated area is a serious stuff. It may be a signal of infection.

I am fixing to go for a 4th opinion and its been 2 years. If this 4th on cant tell me, I think I will write the doctors on tv and asked for help. The doctor that did it alwasys says he doesn't know what is wrong. Well he got his money and he doesnt' care

I'm 6 weeks post op had same problems I got depressed about it but you have to try and rise above it and get that knee bending do the best you can on the exercises to start don't worry if you can't do them all we all heal at a different rate I no its hard but you will start to feel.better soon if you need the painkillers that's what there for im mostly of them now good luck lets us know how your doing

I had an arthrosurface knee implant 11 weeks ago, the pain and swelling are nearly as bad as the day I got home from the hospital. I never thought I would be in more pain after the surgery than before. I was informed by my surgeon that I should expect another 4 months of this at a minimum! I wish I would have never had this procedure done.

I had my first knee replaced in early July and second at the end of August. My physical therapist and surgeon say I am on course or better but I am still in a lot of pain and have a lot of swelling. I am just trying to hang in but it is unbelievable how long this recovery is taking. I wish there were a local support group. I would so appreciate people to talk to. I'm only 62 and intend to have full flexibility so I will do anything pt says I should but wow - it still hurts!
