I just want 2 know how long it takes after surgery can I get a whole night sleep. I'm not able 2 sleep longer than 2 hours and I'm back up. Maybe it's me worrying if the cancer is all gone r something is going 2 happen while I'm sleeping. I don't know but I want a goodnight sleep so bad. Anyone please if u know help me.

I had surgery on Aug. 24, 2011. I had 3 tumors in the bladder and a large one in my right kidney. Stage 3. they removed the 3 in the bladder doing a chemo wash, and removed my right kidney. The pain that I am having is so severe It feels like a HOT POKER going in my back and out thru the front. Had CAT scan done and nothing shows up, will a MRI show anything? HELP I CAN"T STAND THE PAIN

I had my left kidney mostly removed Oct. of 2009. I have a scar that is literally from the left side of my belly button to the exact opposite side on my back. I am sitting here right now in pain. I hope scar tissue pain goes away. About CT scans: I have 3 more years of follow up scans and x-rays of my lungs. I go to a charity hospital because I was on disability without medicare when the 7 cm tumor was found. I am a 36 year old female so my doctors were in awe because of my age and that its primarily male disease. I am scared reading here someone got it in their lungs after 3 yrs. I am praying for you all and please don't resort to opiate meds for the pain because you hurt worse when you quit than you did prior.

Hello, I had my kidney removed[left] due to cancer last July. I have alot of upper pain in my shoulder, and back, I was told the position they put my left arm in could be why. Anyone out there with the same problem, and also my bowels are not the same. And digestion of food, do not feel hungry, lost a lot of weight, mind you needed to as well. But now I do not want to lose anymore either. And still have a lot of pain where the huge scar is . Get back to me if anyone out there relates.
. I am a year and au half post left nephrectomy for 6 cm oncocytoma and still have frequent pain in the location formerly known as my kidney. In that back my left side and navel to the left in front. Stabbing, pulling, sudden dull pain. All Ct dray and blood work is clear. I am a hairy male and subconsciously rub my stomach so much I have worn a bald spot. I was always very active and energetic and now still tire easily and am nowhere near as strong as I was. Tylenol barely touches the pain. And yes, my bathroom habits have changed too. Good luck

my partner had cancer in right kidney and had a major open surgery to remove it his cancer tumour had also spread into the ivc vein, the drs reckon they managed to remove it all? it was only 3 weeks ago this operation was done! i know hes going to have some pain from the operation, after a week in hospital his process was good and they allowed him home...since returning home he was doing well still with pain but managing to cope with it!he as now been put on warfarin and for some reason hes been feeling sick and developed chest pains and severe abdominal pains, also his testicles have became very sensitive... yesterday the 5th april 2012 he was in so much pain we went back to hospital, the drs said the chest pains was muscle aches, the abdominal pains was throu the operation, recovery period and to take paracetamol?we have to go back and see the surgeon in may 2012 to talk about what the next stage is?i was wondering if anybody else can tell me if theyve been anything similar. i know everybody is different but it would be helpful if anybody had been throu same n had same pain effects after open major surgery?thank you sara

Check out the side effects of warfarin. Chest Pain and severe abdominal pain is a side effect of the Warfarin. It's given to thin blood or for blood clots. Please get him to an oncologist.

Go to the doctor!! Could be a hernia especially if you were cut in the front abdominal area. 10 years since surgery-way to go!!

I had my left kidney removed 4 years ago and still have pain in that area. My brother-in-law had his kidney removed 7 years ago and he tells me he still feels pain there. I guess for some people, there will always be a certain amount of pain.

When I had my right kidney removed over a year ago the pain was unbearable. I was re-admitted into the hospital for uncontroled pain amoung other things. I stayed in the hospital for almost a month. It does get better. I do understand your pain.

I had my right kidney removed about 4 years ago due to a tumor in my lower abdomen that cause my kidney to die. I still have sever pain extra when it's raining. A month ago I started having chest pains. One night I started to have sever abdominal pain and thought it to be the 15% of my tumor that was to risky to remove. However after vomiting feces I was rushed to the hospital and told the scar tissue had blocked my bowels a few hours later I was im surgery. My pain now is constant, I've lost so much weight and always feel bloated after I eat. Passing gas as well as bowel movements are painful to my abdomen. I hope we all find some sort of relief in this pain.. Larry L.

I had my left kidney removed christmas of 2000 due to cancer.
I have noticed an increase in pain in the area the kidney was over the past few weeks. Over the years the pain has come and gone, but seems to be staying around longer now and hurts worse than ever. Definitly more noticable when I am very active. I am wondering if anyone else has noticed an increase in pain so long after the surgey (12 years)? Of course I am worried the RCC is returning, I am just 43 yrs old.

Just an update: My husband was the one that the cancer came back in his lung 3 years after surgery and then again to his other lung 1 1/2 years later. His first kidney surgery was in 2005. He's doing great!! No more surgeries since his lung surgeries and he does not have to take any chemo. So it's been seven years since his kidney cancer was found. We didn't know how much time we would have at first diagnosis so we feel very blessed. He retired from the Police Department after 32 years of service in 2010. The kids are grown and married and now it's our turn for US. He still has his catscans every six months which is always very stressful for us. From what the oncologist told us he will have these checkups and catscans for years. I hope you're able to keep having your catscans and follow ups. That is so important. The catscans catch the problems before there are any symtoms. Wishing you the best of health and prayers for you. Would love for everyone to post their updates on this site. I always wonder how everyone is doing. God bless.
