My doctor gave me a sample pack of rozerem. I have not tried it yet but have heard and read good things so far. I have been taking ambien for about two years and I take a 5mg and then every week I will take a ten mg. I feel I have become dependent on the ambien even though I do not think it really works anymore.

Ambien and Rozerem are two different types of drugs that are designed for very different sleep problems. Ambien is a classic non-benzodiazapene and it begins to lose some of its effect in about 2 weeks. This is known as tolerance. Rozerem is only approved to help patients fall asleep, not to keep them asleep through the night. So if you're having trouble falling asleep, Rozerem or one of the many OTC products may help you. However, if staying asleep is your primary complaint, then I would recommend Lunesta. It has by far the largest body of clinical evidence, and it has not had the safety issues reported with other hypnotics. In one of the main trials, patients slept for 7 to 8 hours per night for 1 year with no tolerance. Hope this helps.

I was just given samples of Rozerem. My initial difficulty was falling asleep. The doctor told me to give it 3 days to work effectively. So far, it has helped me fall asleep but now seems to wake me up periodically during the night - wide awake! Has anyone else noticed this effect or do I just need to give it more time?

I was given Rozerem by my doctor and it never did the trick for me. I am currently taking Ambien CR and so far although I don't sleep all through the night it is the best that I have had so far simply because once I wake up I can fall asleep again. I tried Lunestra which was okay but it left a metallic taste in my mouth the following morning. My doctor had warned me about it but I didn't expect it to be so bad.

I was prescribed trazadone as an adolescent for primary insomnia, additionally I was experiencing night terrors. Recently I started taking Rozerem and had the initial impression that it was not efficacious. However, after researching the drug further, I found that, indeed, Rozerem may take 2-4 weeks to subjectively "feel." I found that although brain chemistry does change the first night; psychologically I didn't feel the difference until much later. I am convinced that Rozerem is the best option for me in that it is not addictive, won't make me feel hung-over the next day and will allow me to wake during the night if need be. Anyone who is serious about resolving chronic insomnia issues should definitley devote the time to giving Rozerem a try... it is definitley worth the wait. Not to mention it treats the core defect rather than putting a band-aid on the symtoms of insomnia.

I have been trying a trial version of Rozerem and it really helps me to sleep and basically started right away with the first dose. At first, I did have some drowsiness the next day but this gradually got better. But I have been having really weird dreams. Not nightmares actually but very vivid and very active dreams. They are so weird that I frequently wake up from them. However I can go back to sleep again and usually do not have a repeat. Has anyone else experienced this? Just thought I would ask.

I tried ambien and it works great. I have not tried the rozeram, but I did try lunesta and that was a joke. Plus it leaves a terrible taste in your mouth. Im trying to find something a little cheaper than ambien, if any one knows of anything.

It took me a few months to really get past the weird dreams and not sleeping through the night, but it has been well worth the effort. I have relied on sleepaids for 40 years and finally have something that is not addictive (Rozeram) and I am clear headed all the time. Also, my memory problems have subsided, which I believe had a lot to do with Ambien.
Now I fall asleep in 15 minutes, sleep all night and wake up feeling great. Another tip to sleep is establish a brief bedtime routine and stick to it every night.

I have been taking Ambien and Ambien CR on and off for several years now. I am just now admitting to myself that I have become addicted. I don't take it every night but several nights a week. I have definitely built up a tolerance to it and its not so effective anymore. I also have experienced memory problems and general confusion throughout the day. I did try Rozerem one night and didn't sleep well so I gave up on it. I am glad I read these posts about giving it some time to work. I am sure if I can just get a continuous good night of sleep for a few weeks then I could forget about drugs at all and be back in the routine. That would be great! Also I have been told no caffeine after noon, practice yoga and deep breathing and no tv for at least an hour before bedtime. Good snoozing everyone!

If you get "tolerant" to Ambien does anyone know how long you have to stop taking it before it'll work again? I'm sure it's different for everyone but what do clinical studies show as average?

I have taken Ambien CR which is by far the WORST pill I have ever taken, I had horrible backache, confusion, blurry vision, I was a mess and to top it all, when you quit this pill you are going to suffer. So, I tried LUNESTA which is a bit better than AMBIEN CR but I still had the backache and this disgusting taste in my mouth all day long, I started to wonder whether or not it was worth all this suffering, sometimes, I thought not sleeping was better than all these side effects, then came ROZEREM!! I have been taking it for over a month, NO SIDE EFFECTS worth talking about. I sleep early in the morning but I can sleep and I can actually dream!! Give it a try, you will love it!!
