I've tried everything and nothing seems to help. I fall asleep pretty normal, but have horrible intervals of sleeping every night. I usually wake around 3am and half the time can't go back to sleep.
This is disrupting so many aspects of my life. I'm willing to try anything and have heard about medical marijuana for sleep disorders, any feedback???

Hi, I use medical marijuana to combat my insomnia. I have been put through many various prescriptions from rozarem to ambien none of which were right for me and had some nasty side effects.

What you need to know is that not all strains(specific types of plant) will work for you, however, if you obtain your "medcard" any of the people at the local "marijuana clinic" will be able to help you and you have quite a good one up in Santa Barbara.

Look for plants that have an indica(specific species of cannabis plant) dominant background. These typically help most people sleep although marijuana can effect everyone differently.

I did try to use Marijuana, for me it did help, but for me it was not the long - term solution, as I had very nasty side effects, I had headaches and it also did an effect on my sex drive, a negative one.

If using medical marijuana for sleep I recommend that you use it in a edible form like a cookie or some marijuana butter in a glass of warm milk. I have no problem getting to sleep... it is a matter of staying asleep. Smoking marijuana did not do it for me for sleep and if it did I had to smoke way to much just to get me there. I believe consumption works best with a different effect than smoking. If you eat it know it takes an hour to take effect.
Here is one way to get your medical marijuana http://www.medicannusa.com/
Good luck and good eating. also you can google recipes for marijuana butter.
Good luck and good eating!

Lately I have been having a heck of a time trying to sleep, I lay down at 9 and im up till 4am, tried turning off the TV, radio and all that may effect me sleeping, but still nothing. I tried smoking weed a few months back and never had an issue sleeping or staying asleep, worked well. didnt so much smoke for the high, just for the ability to sleep. Do u allow Medical Marijuana for sleep issues?

I've had bad insomnia for 9 months!!!!! I've tried lunesta, ambien, trazadone, Everything natural and OTC under the sun. My friend who has never smoked pot, told me to try it she heard of it's medicinal uses for Insomnia. I got some and tried it last night, It totally cleared my mind and relaxed me, I didn't have as many lucid dreams and didn't wake up as much last night, I have a feeling this could be the ticket. I've also been prescribed xanax for anxiety that I've now developed because of the Insomnia. I found it very useful for that as well, I have anxiety worring about not being able to fall asleep and last night I had no worries. If this works I will try to get a license for it, if I can't get a license I will have to buy illegally. Insomnia is ruining my life. I have a tip for first time users or if it's been a while since you've smoked try one or two hits and see how how you feel, because I tried it on another occasion and smoked too much and I felt too high and on edge. Good luck and be open minded to this alternative, it's much healthier and less habit forming than sleeping pills

You might want to look at other things as the cause of your insomnia first, like drinking soda all day that has caffeine in it. That would keep you up.Being inactive-like in front of video games or a computer for many hours might leave your body feeling it isn't tired or your brain can get overstimulated in a strange way from doing so little.Teenagers,as a whole, often find themselves awake late at night unable to fall asleep. Marijuana isn't your answer.

HI, im 17, i've been prescribed ADHD treatment, Adderall for my now somewhat diminished "disorder" if you want to call it that, but i was one of the lucky ones and was able to grow out of the hyperactivity part. ANYWAYS, i'm a big guy, and I don't like taking pills to begin with so i was sketchy at best when starting the course. Unfortunetly the first 3 days were HORROR i stayed up for 84 hours straight, and every night for the past 2 months, ive been getting 10 - 20 hrs. of sleep a week, MAX! I CANT STAND IT ANYMORE!!! My doctor has given me a small concoction of low level sleeping pills such as zoplicone (Immovane), and hydroxyzine. THEY DONT DO ANYTHING! honestly, pot was the only real thing that ever made me pass out faster than anything else, if i wanted to pass out then i would smoke a bowl and lie down and i'd be out in 5 minutes. and it DEFINITELY beats benzodiazepines!

I have clinical depression, was perscribed fluexotine, hasn't done a god damn thing. I recently diagnosed myself(no doctor has yet diagnosed me with anything but clinical depression) with insomnia, ADD, and chronic anxiety. I'm only fifteen years old, but let me tell you, marijuana is a very logical answer. Doctors prescribe RITALIN to young kids, you think that's not bad for them? Marijuana is nowhere near as bad as that. So far I have found weed helps me with depression, DEFINITELY helps me with insomnia, I only have ADD mildly, but it helps me focus, and it helps me be less stressed out and helps with my anxiety. I am just going to smoke pot illegally until I'm eighteen, and then I'm going to get my medical card, which, in Oregon, isn't that difficult.

Sergio, weed is probably the worst thing to combat depression... I also think ritalin is way better for combating add. If u just want pot, then just say u have anxiety and insomnia... u tell them u want it for add and depression they're going to say no. I don't understand how something that distorts your vision helps you focus. Depression is also a side effect of smoking certain strains of weed so I doubt u shbould mention that. Good luck

I like the edibles for this but only take about a quarter for what they call one dose. The bar I like is called Pure Doja (tastes like Snickers). A full bar lasts me a week. It doesn't get me stoned, high or baked and I sleep peacefully through the night. It's a blessing. Good luck!

Sergio,

I feel for you. I have suffered with those same issues as well along with PTSD. Pot affects me differently. It helps me focus and gives me energy. I've rejected it until this year. However, I cannot stress enough that you are still in the brain's developmental years and will still be until around age 23. You are in a state where, I'm sure you can find a doctor to talk to who can explain the effects of the pharmaceuticals you are taking along with the effects of cannabis on the brain. I found a great psychiatrist who SPECIALIZES in trauma at the local university. Brains that work differently from 'normal' oftentimes REACT differently to drugs. He is fabulous. Knowledge is power. You sound like a smart kid. Find a good doctor who really knows the brain and who you can talk to openly about everything that works and doesn't work for you. If he's a professor, he will want to teach you (not lecture you). And too, always remember that things change with time - nothing remains the same :) That's the one thing we can COUNT ON. Good luck to you!

FreeBird, I like your thoughtful, sensible response to Sergio. I also have had difficulty falling asleep since I was a teenager. Now I drink cream sherry at night, even having a little each time I wake up. It usually works, but how healthy is it?

When I was single, I used a vibrator at bedtime, and that helped me fall asleep. I'm married now, but without intimacy. I'd like to try medical marijuana, but my straight-laced husband would NOT approve.

Sorry about your PTSD. Glad you can get some relief. You deserve to be happy and rested.

As a people previously suffering from insomnia, have a more profound feelings for majority of insomnia patients with mood. In everyone’s concern and help, my insomnia has basically been treated. The following are some treatment methods and experiences of insomnia and We want to these information is helpful:
1. Treatment of insomnia in the process is a long and painful process. But the general insomnia patients, we must reaffirm our confidence. Do not think that the process will not cure the pain.
2. Every night before going to sleep, drink a little glass of milk, beef is add some honey in the morning, no matter what he ate for breakfast, everyone has to eat banana, it is very important, four years I have never stopped.
3. Sleep time, learn self-regulation, to relax from the toes began to relax the body’s every detail, listening to his breathing really think about it, want something funny, and relieve heart of the depressed, the most difficult big deal out of date to cry out.
4. Do not believe what way how much sleep right bodily harm, those are just the medical doctor exaggerated perception will only make you more uneasy.
5. To have confidence in ourselves, it is very important to tell myself to tell people I will certainly sleep better tonight, rather than fear of their own sleep.
6. To buy a tub of sub-feet or buy a wooden comb hair, which appears to use less, but in the long-term course of treatment, played an important role in insomnia treatment.
