OMG! 27 and they did that for 5 months? I'm 19 and they are only doing it for 3. I do go back in 3 for a recheck, so I'm sure they will re-prescribe if needed. This is the second, time, so I'm just hoping.
How do you feel after starting it, Leigh? Do you feel better? Has it helped with your weight at all?

Thanks to all for the comments, been gone a couple of days. A bit more info about me. I'm 52, been menopausal since 48 yrs. Took premarin for 2 1/2 yrs and quite on my own as i was feeling really awful. Withstood the remaining time through the hot flashes, mood swings, etc. I'm surprised my husband hung in there with me. I've been a bear to live with which i will certainly agree. I've gained 30 lbs since 48 yrs and had gained 20 since age 40. I've dieted and gotten to within 25 lbs until nothing was working at all. Then gained 20 lbs back again and can't seem to do anything since. Can't sleep at night, very restless, agitated, moody, trouble swallowing,(am on heartburn medication 20 mg morning and night) food gets stuck in my throat, wake up hoarse every morning, have lots of belly fat mostly. SO ANYWAY, yesterday i quit taking the Iodine, will see if that makes any difference. When i go in to doctor for my 6 wk checkup after starting levo, we'll see if i continue on it or not. I may go back to the Iodine Plus 2 supplements instead. Here's the Iodine website for thos interested: www.1-thyroid.com . Again, I love this site and am so glad to hear i'm not losing my mind and there are others experiencing similar issues.
Hi Karen.... Very similar. Weight gain for a few years... going to doc saying I had a thyroid prob he was aying no you are getting older and need to rest more.... Eventually TSH raised so now on T4 and continue to gain plus other symptoms, awake most nights, shattered during the day, memory probs etc. Having adrenals, pituitary and Testosterone checked by endo at mo. Unfortuantely my last appt was cancelled and I don't get to go back until 23rd. Sad isn't when you are actually looking forward to going to the hospital!
All I can say to you and I have said it over and over is that on the THyroid site UK they say don't be satisfied with anything less than complete cessation of symptoms and for me that'd weight gain too. In fact that's top of the list. Just keep beiing a nuisance. Thyroid patients get a raw deal I think. Jan

It is impossible to lose on Estrogen. Plain and simple. But who wants to have dry skin and be in a bad mood all the time?

So you have to decide....extra weight and a happy outlook or skinny and bitchy.

They raised my levo from 25mcg to 50mcg at the same time I started the vit d. So it is hard to say right now.

My Vit D level is 19, yes. Outside regularly, lots of dairy, blah, blah, blah. My nurse said they are seeing a lot more d-deficient patients. It's pretty scary.
My age is 37, in case that's the question. After I re-read it, it does kind of sound like I was talking about my age.

USMom, I was asking about your age b/c I thought what a young age to being experiencing these problems. I'm 31 and never would have thought I would be experiencing these symptoms/health problems/weight struggles. You know, we try to be positive and then you jump on a scale and no weightloss (or I should speak for myself). I've never had a weight problem until I started synthroid. My doc can't explain it but is sure I need to be on synthroid, why? It's just frustrating.

Hi all, I've been away for a few days and have missed alot! I can't touch on everyone but the Vitamin D has got me. My endo told me I should take it but last night I had such an awful bout of constipation, my husband thought we were going to have to go to the hospital. I'm also taking 75mcg Synthroid and 2000mcg of Biotin every day. Now I'm afraid to add the Vitamin D. Does it really help with weight loss? Does anyone know?

Pooh, I personally am not adding anymore vitamins until I talk to my endo on the 26th. I take Amitiza (prescribed) to go # 2 and it eliminates constipation. It sometimes causes diarrhea so I don't take it every day but constipation is a horrible feeling. Look it up online, you might benefit from it. It sometimes makes me feel really dizzy, kinda funky but it's no different than synthroid (lil joke there). Hope you're feelin better, some relief at least (try Ballerina Green Tea- that'll clean ya out, it does me; have to order online).

I have been taking vitamin D for about six months. I also take B-12,a multi vitamin and 75 mg of Synthroid. Vitamin D has not helped me to loose weight. Constipation is major problem for me as well. None of the OTC fiber products have helped.

AMITIZA ladies, it relieves constipation. Please trust me- Fibercon, Metamucil, Dulcolax, enema's to green tea (only Ballerina & Super Dieters Tea works for me), prunes & prune juice does nothing for me!! Exlax, ecquate stimulant and stool softner to yogurt and Align probiotic to detox options can't help me??? Vitamins only make it worse; if I eat a banana forget about it- I'm miserable. Hmmmm wonder if it'd the adrenal glands....???

Thanks for invalidating how we feel. I'm happy that your mother is doing well, but don't put us down for being honest about our own experiences. We wouldn't be here if we weren't suffering

Debbie in New York: excuse me? I'm talking to those who write about how 'we must be lazy'. Nice tone with me!! Respect is what I have for those "suffering" or experiencing the down falls; so Debbie read all posts before addressing me- ie "Brian" who said we must be lazy and "eat a crap load"

Amazing!!! Try "I" or "me" before "we" b/c that was uncalled for!!! And please don't post anything to me again

BTW a friend of mine mentioned some detox options: epison salt & hydrogen peroxide soak/bath for 40 minutes. Green Vibrance, Sonne's # 7 and a coffee enema. I googled it and thought I'd share. She struggles with Lyme disease and recently diagnosed w/ thyroid probs & takes synthroid. She's having a prob w/ diarrhea, but these detox options were suggested to her by specialists. It could help someone on here

Jen and Pooh, def talk to your doctor first. I honestly don't know if the D causes constipation or not. I wish I had an answer to that. Fortunately, as long as I avoid cheese, I don't have a problem with it very much.
Jen, I figured that's why you were asking :) I'm glad we clarified.

Hey, I have another question. Do any of y'all deal with depression? I have had it off and on for a long time, and can tell when it's coming. I've got a good bout starting, and any suggestions are welcome.

Oh girl (USMom) depression is one of the thyroid problems. Some peeps get it seasonally. I used to get fired up then super sad for lil to no reason. What has helped me is "scents"... Vanilla & lavender but the most relaxing/refreshing is coconut lime from Bath & Body. I have the hand soap, lotion, body spray and hand sanitizer in my purse. Plus I take a few minutes to pray & focus on my breathing- push my gut out then pull my belly button in to my spine tensing my stomach muscles then releasing (morning & night). And mentally run thru what I'm thankful for. I used to take Lexapro a yr ago and felt 110% worse so that wasn't for me.

This past yr has made me realize life is too short- lost my career and am still unemployed but I have to make the most of
my life, my days. Check out the scents girlie-it's worked for me.
