Not sure what to do. I did some research on hyperthyroidism last night from someone suggesting it, and I do have the following symptoms:
Difficulty Concentrating (severe)
Frequent bowel movements - went 3 times the other day
Heat intolerance - my anxiety increases in the heat, can't stand it
Increased sweating - for the past few months, I have been sweating under my arms profusely
Nervousness - oh my gosh, can't hardly bare it
Restlessness - can't be in one spot for more than 20 minutes
Weight loss - I rarely gain weight, but when it gets bad, I tend to lose 15-20 pounds and I'm only 140 lbs average
Hair Loss - Started losing a lot of hair around age 25. I am male, and notice it mostly on my pillow and when I style my hair, it falls out
Hand Tremor - have had this the past 7 years
Skin blushing - my face tends to feel hot and looks blushed
I never get a good nights rest and I feel like I can't enjoy a good night sleep.
The site I was on instructed me to do a thyroid test by tilting my head back and and swallowing water and searching for a protrusion. There was definitely one there, rather large I thought. Ate some broccoli (as instructed for natural remedy), started to feel a bit better, checked my thyroid later, and it looked like half of it had shrunk.
Lately, my eyes will just shut automatically and I don't know why. I've been weening myself off of Elavil for the past few days and, I am sure I'm dealing with some withdrawal, but I've only been on it, not even two weeks and at 50mg dose. I went to 25mg, then to 12.5, now I'm down to 5mg, roughly.
The last time my thyroid was checked, was three years ago, and all the doctor told me, was that something was High-Normal. She didn't indicate what, and no further test was done.
I'm getting scared, as this is only getting worse, and doctors like to pin everything on anxiety. I don't feel like my anxiety has gotten worse, but I feel like these symptoms are. Now I'm having hot flashes.
Any suggestions, insight?

I have a post going on topix "Vitamins that help hyperthyroidism"
I'm just dumping vitamins and supplements into my body now:
B-complex, L-Arginine, multi-vitamin, vitamin C, Calcium-Magnesium wiht D when I remember, and Aloe Vera Gel. I've stopped caffeine and alcohol, dairy and most "white" food stuff, and have added broccolli, cauliflower, and blueberries to my diet. Although I'm up most of the night, the shaking has stopped with Bystolic (for high blood pressure), the end of the school year, and a little exercise (my muscles just don't want to put out) The nurse recoomended taking Melatonin to help sleep. So far that hasn't worked."
So I'm right there with you looking of answers. I suggest you go back to the doctor or a different doctor and tell ALL your symptoms. Mine spotted this right away. My hand tremors have been going for a while (but I thought I was getting old. I'm not. I'm only 50), the bowel stuff, too, for ages, but not a dozen times or more a day. It got really bad over the past few weeks. I'm changing my diet, cutting out all the "good" stuff: alcohol, caffeine, soda, dairy, white food: sugar, potatoes, white rice... My energy level is coming backup a little.
