hi sam
i have hives from 6 years.
i came this foum in july 2012 and started water therapy, there is no doubt.. it really works.but in serious stage along with water therapy you should go for Ayuravedic medicine (indian herbal treatment).i a taking it from 16 july and feeling better. its really verygood.
there is medicine HARIDRAKHAND (made from tureric) wonderful in urticaria .
Hello Chandan, As i have mentioned in my previous posts that chronic inflammation/infection as a one possible cause for hives, Tumeric powder can help hives if they are caused by inflammation , its a potent anti-inflammatory compound. thanks for sharing.

I have had chronic hives for 16 mo. Just 2 weeks ago I had an endoscopy and found I have inflammation in the esophagus caused by acid reflux. Whenever I have had the symptoms intensely from this, my hives get worse than at other times. I feel there is a definite connection between the hives and the esophagus problem. Anyone out there have this too? Dr. has put me on Omeprazole 40mg. which is a proton inhibitor. I have taken it for 5 days now but have seen no relief yet with either stomach/esophagus discomfort or the hives. I am eating only foods with little or no acid qualities. I am hoping this could be the answer but have been disappointed so many times, that I find it hard to be positive.
Vicki, It is very possible that cause of your hives is chroinc inflammation or infection which is in your oesophagus. They are connected definitely, Have you ever tested for H.pylori ? it is important that you ask your doctor to check for a possible H.pylori infection, in the meantime use " pure aloe vera juice" twice a day , drink "slippery elm" tea once or twice a day , to resolve acid reflux use ' d-limonene " , this is oil extracted from organge peel available in gelatin capsules and showed promising results in GERD patients. look for reputable brand such a life extension , now or Jarrows. Its all natural and no side effects.
Use these capsules for 20 days and then stop , you will get relief for up to a year.

Remember to post your progress here.

Good luck.

Hi Sam, i have been taking the water 4liters a dayfor almost a month now (3 October). The changes is not much for much cos i still get the itchy hives mostly at night but sometimes i go for days without them then they come again. I dnt knw if the water thing is working. Should i continue for another month or there is something else to try? Thanks
Hello HDZ, Your question is already answered in some of my previous posts under the thread " Hives" or " Chronic Hives". here i write for you once again.

If you do not find relief after 2-3 months of water therapy then consider following and do some investigation.

1. Continuous exposure to some foods and non foods items which are causing allergy/metal toxicity, you need to make a list/diary of what you do and eat , some allergic reactions start after 48hrs to 72hrs of exposure.
This is something very important to remember and doctors are not going to tell you.

2. Chronic Viral or bacterial infections / silent infections such as H.pylori./flu/colds or chronic inflammation.
A complete blood /urine test will help detect theses conditions including metal toxicity. Pleases consult with your doctor and get tested.

3. Thyroid Issues / Iodine deficiency , get your thyroid checked thoroughly.

4. try to supplement your body with some good quality multivitamins and minerals formulas.

Hope this will help.

Take care

Hi Sam thanks so much after the worst outbreak i had. I still continued drinking the water everything has disappered. I dont have any sleepless night and i just get 1 or 2 which disapperes after few miniutes i belive the last outbreak which was the worst ever was due to reaction with the toxins in my body. Will continue for another month which makes it two months. So after that what should i do? Should i stop the water or to reduce the intake like i take 4lts a day? Thanks to this forum n to Sam

hdz, Glad to know that you are making progress, water is essential for our life so you are not supposed to stop it , after one more month you can decrease the amount to 5-6 glasses per day and then keep it that way. Remember a fully hydrated body means a healthy and pain free life.

Hi everyone, I apologize that I have not read every post in this thread yet, but do you think that drinking lots more water will help someone like me, who is 40 years old, and has been getting hives since I was a toddler (I doubt I was dehydrated when I was 3)? And I also have eczema, asthma,(both since age 4) severe upper respiratory allergies, and crohn's disease? Lots of autoimmune stuff going on. Or do I need completely different treatment, or water plus other treatments?

Even on Singulair, zyrtec, and sometimes benadryl and oral prednisone added to the mix, all at the same time, I still get them, mostly on my face (great!) and chest, but they can pop up all over. When I get gigantic ones, like bigger than a silver dollar, they are so itchy, I give in and use prescription steroid cream. But I cannot use that on my face. Benadryl cream helps only slightly.

In childhood, one clear trigger was cold weather-- I would get them all over my body many winter days.

I'm sure I don't drink enough water, plus I am on a diuretic for early stage hypertension (do not understand why I have that when my diet, cholesterol, weight, exercise, etc are very good). I avoid sugar and grains. All my bloodwork for vitamins, thyroid, anemia, etc., just came back better than I've seen in years, I think because I eliminated most grains and sugar 4 months ago. I was hoping this would help the hives too, but not yet.

I have also tried acupuncture and Chinese herbs which did not help.

Thank you for any advice.

Hello I'm 17 years old and just 2 days ago I started getting hives. It all started before I went to bed one night, my arm itched a little bit. I woke up that morning with hives all over my arms, I took allergy medicine and about 2 hours go by and there completely gone. I go back to sleep and wake up with more hives all over. . Took some more allergy medicine, the hives disappear. Night time comes and the hives are back. I take a shower go to bed, wake up with hives all over and worse. Now iv started to drink lots of water. Wish me luck

Thanks so much Sam! I have been fighting with hives on my 10 year old for 3 weeks now. They start in the every evening and with Benedryl they dissappear only to come out again the next night. She is not a big water drinker, but I managed to get an extra 32 ounces in her yesterday and she did not break out last night! I am so excited with this easy fix as my older son also had periodic hives and the doctors tested for allergens and could not find anything he was allergic to. Wonder why allergy doctors are not suggesting this for their patients?
Sam wrote:
Dear All,
Hives or Urticaria is caused by excessive release of neurotransmitters Histamines in our bodies.
Histamines are part of our immmune system and they are responsible for various important tasks in our bodies. The one most important task of histamines is water management inside our bodies. We have a very sophisticated water management system inside our bodies and almost every organ in our bodies needs water to work properly.
75% of a human body consist on water and needs a 2 quart of water daily to perform essential tasks inside our bodies. This amount of water is essential and every major organ, cell and tissue requires water to function properly, A stable immune systmen highly dependable on fully hydrated cells. When the cells are dehydrated your immunce system goes haywire. Remember our body has a natural detoxification system which will not work properly without enough water and this will cause all kind of allergies and diseases.
Due to modern age lifestyle , Alcohol( major factor) excessive amount of caffeine and other dehydrating foods and liquids used in our daily lives causes a severe drought inside our bodies. This is called " Chronice Cellualr Dehydrataion", When body does not have enough supply of water naturally it releases these histamines to deal with water shortage and you get those hives as a result.
Almost all of the modern age disease are the result of Chronic dehydration.
here is the cure for all of you.
1. Stop alchol, caffeine and sodas.they dehydrate your body severely. Rhydrating process will not work if you do not eradicate alcohol completely and decrease the intake of caffeine to lowest.
2. Start the process of rehydrating your bodies with 8 ounces glasses of pure water per day ( two glasses of water every 3 hrs).
Water is a natural " antihistamine".
3. Use some salt, pinch for a glass ( pregerably unrefined sea salt) or 3 grams for 10 glasses of water.( if you have a blood pressure talk to your doctor before adding the salt to the water).
When you start drinking more water you have more urine output that is why salt is necessery with more water intake so your body does not get depleted by essential minerals and sodium.
Get a good quality mineral supplement and take it daily.
Remember it took years for your bodies to dehydrate so rehydrating is not possible in day or two, it will take few weeks or may be two month. you will start to feel the effects in two weeks and will be cured in 4-8 weeks time.you will be free of hives completely. give it a try and you have nothing to lose.
Hope this will help.

Vickie, the way modern medical science works is different and it mostly revolves around (big pharmaceutical corporations) making big profits , doctors are stuck in between , they are trained strictly to follow scientific studies (sponsored by big pharmas) and prescribing medicines. Imagine if they start treating people just through water then what money the medical institutions making. This can not be changed unless whole medical system become service and not a business.

Thanks for all of you good advice, Sam. After high level anxiety spell this summer, I developed hives (at least I think that is the final accurate diagnosis). After they subsided, along with the anxiety, I found your blog.

I have one kidney (donated the other), so, thinking it promotes my single kidney's healthy functioning, I try to drink water regularly, with lots of urination. I remember that during the summer I had noticed I wasn't peeing as often, and so I had probably become dehydrated, hence the hives.

I see that you mentioned "with kidneys working well" 8 glasses a day is optimum...my one kidney seems to be working fine (should be 80% of full capacity, according to the surgeon), with good test results, but is the 64 oz OK for mine? Would more be putting too much of a burden on it? Speaking generally, of course ;)

Nancy, if one kidney is fine then one can drink 6-8 glass of water without problem but i suggest you discuss this with your doctor who has better idea of your overall condition.

Stress and anxiety can wreak havoc on your immune system and you may develop unexplained pains and other autoimmune problems such as hives.how this mind and body connection works its a huge topic, bottom line is that it is important to properly deal with the stress, repressed anger or anxiety as these can make your hives worst.
In the meantime continue with water therapy.

Hope this will help.

About 2 years ago, I started having hives outbreaks with frequency. I was frusterated and annoyed because I would have to take an allegra or Zantac or Claritin when the outbreaks started on my hands and feet. I went to see an allergist and he did the back exam to find out I was allergic to cats, bed bugs, dust mites, pollen, etc. I made all the changes generally recommended, but to no avail. I began thinking it could be a food allergy, which of course it wasn't.

Fast forward, I am now 2 months hives free. I found out what was causing the hives FOR ME. It was asprin or fish oil. I have a very strong conviction that it was the asprin and not the fish oil, but it has been so great to be hives free that I don't want to take the chance. If you are taking asprin and suffering from hives, give it a try, it might just cure you too!!!

Sam,
I have a 4 yr old son who recently broke out in hives/welts all over his body. It happened before bedtime and started off with a large welt behind his knee and later in the night he woke up with them all over his body and they seemed to have spread all over especially in the inner thighs, inner elbows, back of armpits, around the neck, tops of wrists and belly areas. It is going on day three and he has had less breakout but will still breakout fewer places around bedtime or when he is asleep. He has had an incident like this before where it ocurred in the inner thighs and lasted each morning about 30 minutes ftr he woke up for about a week but certainly not as alarming. He has been know to have respiratory issues but these hives/welts did not effect breathing. I believe we all need to drink more water as my husband stresses this issue with me. I am inspired by your comments to Cindy and she sounded a little aprehensive about how drinking more water and how could this help her hives as she knew she was healthy...but she eventually got this issue under control (in combination with oil of oregano and acupuncture) and its great to read how confident she is in hydration! Do you believe water is the key in helping my 4 yr old son? Regardless I am gong to have him drink more water and express to his daycare provider that he needs to drink more throughout the day. I look back at the past three months since I put him back in private school and have noticed the decrease in water he has consumed...most days I don't believe he even drank from his water bottle yet he says he uses the drinking fountain. I guess my main question is...Have you experienced or heard about a hive issue with young kids? I plan on still taking him to see an allergist but my husband and I cringe to think about all the medication and steroids the doctors pump in our kids these days!!! I am also considering purchasing OxyHives as I'd at least like to try a more homeopathic solution in conjunction with hydration. He has done well on other homeopathic cold medicines such as the Hylands brands. I forgot to mention his severe allergy to peanuts but I know for a fact he did not ingest any food containing nuts as I pack his lunch, teachers are aware and he attends a peanut free school. Please advise...I would love to read your thoughts back on this issue in regards to toddlers. Thanks!

Thank you Sam for your good advice. I have taken Esophoguard (d. limonene) from Life Extension for the 20 days period and found relief from the acid reflux and best of all, the hives have disappeared. I also have been taking Super Omega 3 from that company to fight the inflammation. It
has worked wonders. What a relief!! I am a believer in your wise and kind advice.

Hello Meg,
Due to time constraints i will not go into details as i have written much under this thread as well as under the thread " chronic hives" ,
It looks like your son has a weaker immune system with unresolved infection or a persistent silent infection which is causing hives , for this i recommend " lauricidin" , it is a unique health supplement which strengthen the immune system with no side effects. You can buy this supplement from their website at lauricidin.com . it come in a plastic jar with small pallets , see if your son can swallow few tiny pallets it will help his immune system by improving his health significantly.
Water is important in hives and you should increase his water intake. Emotional stress ( in adults as well as in children) can worsen hives so check if something is bothering your son at school or home.
Any further question you may post here and i will reply.
Hope this will help.

Hello Vicki,

Good to know about your progress, in order to have lasting relief you have to make some lifestyle modifications, healthy diet and relaxation is important for better health. Due to mind and body connection emotions play a key role in humans heath, repressed anger and stress causes countless health problems so you have to be aware of it.

Cindy, Your water intake is very low, all other things are fluids and not water with the exception of herbal teas , Even with the hrebal tea there is a fair chance that some of the herbs involved are diuretics and causing water loss from your body.
Amount of water you are getting from vegetable and fruits is not good enough and whatever water you are geting from these comes with lots of pestiside residue,
Dairy products such as milk produces more mucus inside the body which may contribute to infections and allergies (direclty or indirectly) and ultimately causes more histamines production.
Let's make it very simple, jsut as you can not take a shower with anything else but only water , inside of your body need the same.
For any persistent infection you may use Oil of Oregano,It is very potent and it can wipe out any chronic infection ( viral or bacterial).give it a try. 2 drops , 3 times a day, must be of a good brand and quality though.
You should be drinking 8oz x 8 glasses of clean nice water only.
