Why the six-plant guideline
We have heard the No on B campaign say there is no rhyme or reason for the 6-plant limit in state regulations.

Watching and listening to all this hate. B is a power trip. It keeps illegal people illegal and medical people become criminals. Our jails don't need to be filled with people who chose pot over pharmeceuticals. I agree that there is a huge zoning issue, but B doesn't address that. The B coalition has money. Wonder why, well you should. They are using out and out lies and disgustingly huge endorsments by the Wineries. The real ones who pollute our enviroment with pesticide and take all the water!! Alcohol is a huge presence in this county, and it's only getting worse. B openly admits they want people to stop getting $20-$25 and hour for work and start accepting $8 an hour wages. Is that really a reason to hand out felonies over marijuana? I have lived around here all my life and never known any violent or polluting pot growers but Meth is what they're really describing. Don't believe the hype. They're counting on your ignorance of pollitics to win this. The papers are so obviously bias. Good journalism won't take a side. Don't let money buy politics. Why is the Republican party giving so much money to B? Where are the medical people who support B if that's who it protects? There is some valid complaints but B is a smoke screen to not truely address those rotten apples. B creates so much crime, stop the oppressors. Vote No on B and save our community!

Ross is being disingenuous (telling less of the facts than he knows) in the claim that Physicians can recommend greater amounts of medical marijuana than the State MINIMUM guideline amount which Measure B would mandate for our county. Technically, SB420 says physicians can recommend more medicine- not plants -than the minimum guideline.
Peter Keegan MD says no physician will do that because of the trouble it causes for them with the CA Medical Board. He said that during the Ukiah City Council sponsored Measure B forum where Ross Liberty also participated. The event can be viewed in it's entirety online at: http://ukiahvalley.tv/index.php... |

Mendo county was the first to have a med mj policy and it was 12 immature and 6 budding. That worked, now it's out of control. Stay within the limits and the law, and you won't have a problem. Grow pot for profit and you're going to have a problem. The people who are against measure b just want to make money, plain and simple.

I moved from Nevada and had a 7 plant limit. I ran out all the time and had to find somewhere to buy it. 25 plants allows for mistakes and males and to grow strains that produce less if needed. And for those of us that bake, 8 ounces doesn't last long. I will grow what I need regardless of B. And adults that want to consume cannabis will no matter how many people want society to be based on how children should act. I prefer being an adult, you worry about your kids, I'll worry about mine. And it turns out coops are legal in California and somebody has to provide to them. Once again, mendo will always be liberal, if you don't want to live in a liberal area, move somewhere with conservatives. Nothing laws can do to change that.

Any lawyers or other people who know about the law care to clear something up:
OK, the text for measure B says that it will adopt the state guidelines set forth by SB 420, which are 12 immature or 6 mature plants and 8 oz per patient. However, some sources, like one of the local papers, are claiming that B will limit people to 6 plants per parcel, not 6 plants per patient. This would eliminate co-ops and caregiver situations, if true. Now, I've read over the text for B and no where in there does it say anything about 6 plants per parcel. A higher number can be recommended by a physician if needed. In addition, SB 420 clearly states 6 plants per PATIENT and mentions nothing about parcel restrictions. It also states that is legal for people to form co-ops, and that it is legal for others to designate someone as their "caregiver". Therefore it would seem to me that setting a limit of 6 plants per parcel would directly violate state law, as it would become illegal to form co-ops or have designated caregivers here. It would also seem that if 6 plants per parcel was put into effect, it was also violate the provision that states a higher number can be set by the patients physician, as a patient may need more than 6. And, since state law overrides county law, would this mean that some of the provisions in B are meaningless? If so, we ought to think about this one before we pass it; it could open up the county to a whole lot of law suits. So anyone know exactly what the deal is on this one? Do some sources just have it wrong, and there is no 6 plant per parcel restriction, or are we passing a law that clearly violates the state laws in SB 420? |

It's six more than we need, but we will take it.

Kinder go back to your cell and plan your next frivolous lawsuit. Anybody who sues the salvation army to make a buck is sick. You are the typical anti-something person, always a skeleton in the closet. Seems those who want to control others lives can't always control their own. You are a sick person, glad to not have you on our side.

Yeah and you're a real winner aren't you? I mean you really are a sick person...needing all that marijuana to live well and all. He who lives in glass house..... |

Some sources have it wrong. Measure B adopts State of California minimums for medical marijuana (as per the text of Measure B) and it repeals Measure G which tries to legalize personal use marijuana at the county level and is used as a 'let's sue 'em all' shield for anyone who wants to grow larger than necessary for medical marijuana gardens. Measure B is one step toward some sanity in Mendocino County neighborhoods. Read the full text of Measure B here http://yesonbcoalition.org/fullmeasureb.php and the full text to other existing marijuana laws (including Measure G) here http://yesonbcoalition.org/existinglaw.php For the real scoop on marijuana in Mendocino County you can read all the local news in one spot on the Yes on Mendocino County Measure B blog http://yesonb.blogspot.com/ Don't be fooled by the oppositions hysteria - they are wigging out about their livelihood about right now. Vote Yes on Measure B to ensure patients have access to medical marijuana and to provide clear guidelines to all involve in the cultivation of marijuana in Mendocino County. Those who continue to grow for profit will continue to get what they are getting...until they are busted. |

What Measure B does:
1.)it repeals the 25 plant limit set by the Board of Supervisors in August of 2007 and it repeals bogus Measure G. 2. it adopts the state limits of six mature or 12 immature plants and eight ounces of processed marijuana; more if physician recommended. But don't take my word for it: read it yourself in the Impartial Analysis of Measure B in your voters pamphlet. There is no parcel limit in Measure B. Measure B simply puts us in line with the SB 420 guidelines which seem to work well in the overwhelming majority of other counties in California. Can someone please tell me why the state limits won't work here when they work in 50 other counties? |

It'll work just fine if people are honest. Glad to see someone else who 'gets it.' |

Thank you for making it clear that the only problem with the six plant limit is money - not medicine. Because if it is the medicine, the rights of every legitimate medical marijuana patient are protected by Measure B. But if it is about the money, then of course you want to be able to grow 25 plants times as many phony medical cards as you have. 25 X 25 = 625 plants. And since when is allowing the six plants prohibition? Prohibition would be zero. |

Does pot negatively affect our kids?

let's make alcohol illegal. It has killed too many of our Mendo kids. It is addictive. The alcohol industry pays lousy wages. It destroys the environment, families and futures. It sucks up too much water. Diesel spills are happening at their water pumps. They scrape mountain tops to grow grapes. Their chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides are fouling the water and air. They make the air stink during crush to the point where I can't enjoy the outdoors. The highways are dangerous with the DUI's. It is by far the most dangerous drug in this county. Set a Good example, walk your talk and give it up WINErs.

Why the six-plant guideline?
Because in Mendocino County alone there are tens of thousands of drug dealers that are collectively generating billions of dollars in illegal drug sales and they don't care how young the buyers are. |

Think about it, it's six plants at any one time. They will grow their six, harvest them, then plant another 12 and when they start to mature, knock it down to six, harvest, rinse and repeat.
These growers know what they are doing, so they can have 3 to 4 cycles per year. They will have plenty of pot to get high with. Most of the pot growers that this affects grow inside anyway, that's why there are so many hydro stores in this county. And by the way, there is a limit on how much alcohol you can make in a year if your a non commercial brewer. People who oppose measure b are in it for profit anyway. |
