J&J just settled three Depuy ASR cases for $600,000 ($200,000 per case) out of court. While it's good that litigation is moving forwards, I think that they settled on the low side. If I were the one left limping and in pain for the rest of my life, I would feel like I deserve more- especially when you consider the fact that many of these patients need multiple surgeries

Did you know that in 2010, Johnson&Johnson issued a worldwide recall of two hip replacement devices (manufactured by its subsidiary DePuy Orthopaedics) because of hip replacement problems. These devices are the ASR XL Acetabular System and the ASR Hip Resurfacing System.

The company cited early failure of the devices, resulting in approximately one out of eight patients’ requiring a “revision surgery." This surgery is often more difficult and painful than the original hip replacement procedure.

J&J is currently facing thousands of lawsuits filed by individuals who have had a first-hand experience of the adverse effects purportedly stemming from the company's all-metal hip implants. Settlement could cost the company billions should complainants agree to accept the terms. There is added information at http://www.depuyhiprecall.us for people concerned and interested.

As research gathered, there was a rising number of conclusive evidence that depuy hip implant are dangerously defective. This resulted in thousands of hip replacement lawsuits being filed by people who are suffering from metallosis or falling metal debris in the hip area, muscle damage, and total failure in their hip replacement which is the reason of the pain they felt.
