I had an open hernia repair in Oct 2011 and my MD put in an Atrium C-QUR mesh. My wound wouldn't heal it just kept oozing and I always had a crampy feeling with pressure. Finally on 3/12/12, 4 months later, I had to have another surgery to remove the mesh. My MD told me that he has had problems with this mesh and has had to take other patients back into the OR to remove the mesh. He also stated that his practice is no longer using this mesh.

What were your symptoms?

this was my husband. He had massive swelling around the incision, unbelievable pain, so his doctor took it out. The cqur did the exact opposite than it was supposed to do. After 8 weeks of it being implanted and complaining to his surgeon, he didnt heal, the coating came off the mesh and just floated around in the fluid. The mesh became rock hard and even though it was still stiched properly the surgeon removed it because of the mess it created and the pain and swelling. He is now having trouble with his kidneys and is on pain meds and still has not healed after 7 months of having it put it. It ruined his life.

i had my first hernia operation 38 years ago no mesh just stitching muscles, cut did not heal i had infection back to hospital another operation, had infection after again wound wont heal, stiches comming out from wund with pus, sick of going back to hospital, clean the wund pulled stiches out boiled sewing needle and some white tread, and stiched wund my self.about 10 years ago had other side hernia operation with polypropylene mesh.beautiful cut you cant even see it and never had any problem.but what i have learned prior to my last hernia operation i have been more then 15 yers before operation on noncandidal diet and still so.when one consumes candidal food whole body every cell in fact is infected there for hospitals get blame for pacient wrong diet.i had bad back for years crippled in bed for weeks of work,it has taken me 5 years to work out that whenever i use sugar or eat sweets it cripples my back.later on i had bad back again but different pain all the way down my leg and painfull feet ,i was in beed for weeks could not even get up.it has taken me 2 years to work it out that when i eat chillis green or red i get crippling back and sciatic pain.chillis are night shade vegetables they cause pain in lot of people.now i would like to ask one question please how many people around the world got paid big bucks for, wrong diet, bad backs, claiming it on employer.i could have beeen in wheelchair for my whole life and on invalid pension if i have collective thinking.whole world is programmed to blame doctors and medical science for not keeping up with their wrong diet.im now old not on any meds climbing trees and still active in mens dep.and most of my friends call me a silly old excentric man.while they have body parts removed bypasses and early dead.

I had the Atrium C-Qur mesh put in for a huge hernia a year after a major surgery. One year later, I started herniating again. This time the Atrium C-Qur mesh failed. My surgeon took out the C-Qur and put in an artificial mesh. We didn't want the artificial mesh because a foreign body attracts infection, which I'm very prone to. So far so good and my surgeon told me to "get on the lawsuit band wagon". He was very aggravated that I had to go through more surgeries because of a defective product. Me too.
It looks like it could have been so much worse from reading everyone else's accounts. I almost died, a few times, from an stomach ulcer rupture December of 2009, which took a toll on my body. More surgeries is not what I need, or any of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God bless you.

i just had my atrium c-qur mesh removed due to infection.
i lost my umbilicus (belly button) due to necrosis.
i had the mesh put in in 11/2011 and removed 04/26/2013. i was in pain with the mesh often, but just "lived with it" until i got "masses" in my abdomen. i am currently trying to find out if there is a recall or anything. i want to find an attorney for the loss of my umbilicus. I know it may sound funny, but losing my "belly button" is a major trauma for me.
