I have been battling hemorrhoids for years, ever since my first daughter was born 4 years ago. They rarely cause me pain, but when I went to the Dr. he recommended surgery right away to remove 3. I was skeptical and to this day not sure it was worth it since they weren't hurting me and the recovery was horrible! Now I just got another one... agghhh. I say unless they are painful, hold off on the surgery as long as you can!!!!!

Generally, if you develop hemorrhoids, it is a result of poor bowel or digestive function. Because of this, the best way to relieve hemorrhoids in the long run is to improve your digestive system.

Most people don't eat enough of the right kinds of fiber to maintain good bowel movements. If that is you, it is a good idea to supplement your fiber intake.

I use a product called Herbal Fiberblend that is a combination of soluble and insoluble fiber as well as a number of herbs. It cleans out your intestines/colon and makes going to the bathroom regularly a breeze.

I would certainly recommend this to "worried." It isn't that expensive, and it doesn't have side effects, so it's worth a shot.

I think you can get it in Canada from www.allaboutparasites.com

hi worried--- i'm worried too. i've had problems since october and they started to get better and now they are a lot worse. i feel your pain. you should definitely take metamucil regularly to increase your fiber. and you should stay away from beer and spicy foods. good foods to eat are berries (particulary blackberries and blue berries), beans, whole grains, and drink A LOT of water!! those things helped me get better. but my problem was that once i got better, i kinda stopped my high fiber diet and my hemorrhoids immediately returned... so you should really stay on the diet for a while even if your symptoms improve. good luck and if you find that something else helps too, please let me know! thanks

How long does the average external hemorrhoid take to heal? Mine has only been 4 days now, but they have been excruciating days. I am certain I got mine from exercising in a thong, which I never do but forgot a change of underwear that day.(Has anyone else had this problem? I am so sure that's what happened as I have a good diet, exercise and am drinking lots of water; yet can't find any postings similar). They popped up almost instantly after my 5 mile run and are hard and very painful. I don't know if I should bother with the doctor yet or not. I had them very badly 8 years ago when I had an overdue pregnancy and needed a prescription for the last month of my pregnancy and that had a cure - getting the baby out finally! but haven't had them bad like this since then. I've done the sitz baths, the creams, the Tucks, everything... nothing is easy the hard pain.

I know the discomfort you are experiencing with hemorrhoids. I have been fighting them off and on for years now. I did find relief in a product called zenmed. I used a cream and a product to make my bowel movements regular and stop constipation. I think the website was www.1internetreviews.com . I know these don't work for everybody but I had relief. Surgery was something I did not want.

if your problem is constipation, drink good old fashion prune juice. not only does it work excellently, it's also very nutritive. has potassium for blood pressure and nervous system. that should help hemrrhoids a lot. also use witch hazel directly, then use a zinc ointment, like the ones for diaper rashes, they shrink instantly. i wouldn't recommend operations, seeing they'll come back anyways. good luck.

There are all sorts of reasons why one develops hemorrhoids. I never had them until I had my first baby, they went away and 30 years later have come back to haunt me and by the way eating more fiber for hemmorrhoid suffers can sometimes make the problem worse.

I have discovered that simply reducing food intake will result in fewer bowel movements and the tissues will return to normal in about a week's time. No Doctors, creams, sitz baths, herbs, blah, blah!(what do you have to lose?)

You must treat your Hemorrhoids sooner is better (Hemorrhoids become worse if you don't treat them)
I would recommend you to try natural treatments.

One thing that works for me is to reduce the amount of processed food I eat and also increasing my fiber intake. If you want to learn more check out this blog:

Hi There,

Hemorrhoids are terrible to deal with however, if you spend more time and energy on eating healthy meal that are good to your hemorrhoids, they will start to shrink away.

Here are some things you can do at home to ease the pain.
1. Make sure to have a soft and smooth stool everyday. You can do this by eating vegetables such as, spinach, carrot, broccoli, avocado and cucumber. You can steam them with olive oil, salt, and garlic.
2. Eat fruits such as, papaya, apple, and pear.
3. Drink prune juice to get a quick relief from constipation.
4. Apply witch hazel with a cotton boll to stop the itching sensation.
5. After a bowel movement wash your bottom and bloat dry.
6. Drink plenty of pure water.
7. Don't eat too salty and spicy food since they make the hemorrhoids irritate really bad.
8. Avoid eating processed food such as, french-fries, white past and bread...etc to avoid constipation.
9. You can also make your own vegetable and fruit juice by blending it with water, cucumber, carrot, apple, avocado and celery.

Don't take this lightly. Take actions right away. You can manage this yourself.
