Hi, everyone, I ve had bad breath for more than 10 yrs and 6 months ago I was diagnosed with Helico Pylori. The doctor prescribed me a triple antibiotic treatment(Amoxicillin,Clarithr omycin,Lansoprazole).
After 1 day of taking those there was no trace of bad breath. I was stunned. It worked .

Hi everyone, i had issues with my stomach for a about 2 years, recently i noticed my breath became very bad i couldn't even stand myself it was so bad and bitter, i went to a Gastro and tested positive for h. pylori. I'm on my 5th day of treatment with the prevpac and within 3 days the breath was gone, its so great liek night and day the difference and how fast this worked. I have to get retested to see if it was eliminated. what a horrible bacteria. Best of luck to everyone

hi everyone, i was diagnosed with H. Pylori too 2 weeks ago. he prescribed me triple antibiotic treatment too. when i first took it, my bad breath had almost gone. however, when i finished the course of the medicine, the bad breath came back again. the doctor prescribed another course which was one week. i finished it yesterday, it seems like the bad breath is coming back. what should i do? does that mean the medicine he prescribed did work?

I've had the triple therapy twice and still have H pylori. Try pre and probiotics, they wont kill the h pylori but they will hep colonise you gut with friendly bacteria. Go back to the docs for a carbon urea breath test, you'll need to wait about 4 weeks from your last antibiotic though or you could get a false positive/negative result

I've been suffering from bad breath since I was in the 6th grade. People would say that my breath smelled back then. Now I just turned 18 years old and a freshman in college and I've been determined to eliminate this problem. My life has been crippled by bad breath. I've been damaged socially, emotionally, mentally, and academically. My breath is very bad. Even after brushing my teeth, using mouthwash, therabreath, chlorophyll tablets and cleaning my tongue, my bad breath is constant. It even comes out of my nose! It can fill a classroom. Based on my observation, people who are near me get runny noses and say they feel sick. It also seems to stay in an area even after I'm gone. I'm can't say that I have stomach problems but I do have alot of movement in my stomach. It seems I have the exact same class of bad breath as some other people in this forum and that's why I'm posting this. Do you think "H pylori" is the culprit?

You need testing for H Pylori to determine whether it is or is contributing to your problems.I feel HP slows down the digestion so food sits in the gut and festers, this can add to your problem.

You dont say what your diet is like but just in case .......

Take a look at your diet - good wholesome food, pro-biotics, live yoghurt, fruit and veg. High UMF factor manuka honey (beware of imitations, plenty of water. Aloe vera gel (not juice, its too dilute), DON'T eat processed food if you can help it. Lemon juice in hot water with a pinch of salt and good quality virgin olive oil. Too much protein can make your breath smell (think eggs!!). Try a soluble fibre powder (check to contents), constipation can make your breath and skin smell.

If you don't have HP then at least you will be heathier and smell sweeter. Get tested!!

Don't avoid garlic or onions- they are very good for you! Just avoid them if you are going to be 'social'.

Hope this helps

Hey, the bad breath thing is no joke. My wife got it not long after we were married. I'm talking breath that would knock a horse down at 20 paces. NOT the sort of thing I might have overlooked whilst courting. At any rate she finally got a test for HP and that knocked it out. Unfortunately I didn't do the treatment (I didn't have medical insurance at the time) and so it's come back; stand to reason we'd just pass it back and forth. We are both heading in now to get the treatment. We both have testy stomachs and she's got that HORID breath again. Oh, a word to the wise....you should take something (active bacteria)while on the antibiotics because the cure can really set you off as well. It was recommended to get something with at least 4 different cultures and at least 10 billion active particles. Antibiotics affect people different but for me, I prefer doing something other than drinking anti diarrheal cocktails while I read and re-read War and Peace in the library with the porcelain seat.

Hi I was tested with H.Pylori,Lucky for me I didnt have an ulcer, went on the triple antibiotic treatment after 2 days, boy was i sick with diarrhoea, was told to stoped taking them.
My symptoms was the bad breath,Nausea on and of all day, burping even after drinking walter, waking up with a bitter taste in my mouth,H.Pylori symptoms were getting worse, even when I cleaned my teeth with tooth paste I felt sick after.
I went back to the doctors asked to try the treatment again, this time I was put on Nexium HP7,finished 2 days ago,I can now clean my teeth with out feeling sick.
I have also lost 20kg because of this in 4 months.
Watch out ladies this bug also plays around with your hormones.

I feel validated reading all your posts. I have had bad breathe for years. Nothing helped me. My dentist would say my mouth is very healthy and that it was my stomach. My doctor would say I need to change my diet and brush my tongue. Bad breathe continued.........now years later..today my doctor told me I have GERD and possibly an ulcer. I am awaiting the H pylori blood test results and we will go from there. All those years of "suffering" with bad breathe... covering my mouth, talking away from people........coming across as odd. I hope I find relief soon.

I also have bad breath and have wondered about the H.pylori connection. I recently heard Dr. Oz mention that cranberry juice and Pepto Bismol kill H. pilori. I plan to give them both a try. I also use a special mouthwash with zinc, and I believe Dr. Oz said that the cranberry juice and Pepto both have zinc in them. I don't have a conclusion yet, but these are worth a try.

Hi all,
I have been trying to find a cause of my horrific halitosis, and "H pylori" keeps popping up in my research. Do any of you, who have tested positive for h pylori, suffer from bad breath as one of your symptoms? I have some digestive issues, but no ulcers that I am aware of. I am going to make an appointment with my doctor and hopefully he will test me for h pylori. If anyone has had halitosis from h pylori, please let me know! My bad breath has me stumped, and I am in the middle of a process of elimination, I have already been to the dentist twice in the last 6 months, and my mouth is in great shape! The dentist told me that my bad breath must be related to my diet. I have elimnated dairy, sugar, etc, to no avail. I am desperate for an answer. Thank you so much!
My husband has had such bad breath for the past 3 years, i can smell it when i pass him in the hall or am sitting in the car with him. He went to the dentist and his primary and they could not find the cause of the bad breath. I read an article in readers digest about h pylori and one of the symptoms was bad breath. So i encouraged my husband to see a gi specialist, and after doing bloodwork and a poop test it was confirmed that he had h pylori. He has to take 2 different antibiotics and a antireflux med. ThankGod that the cause of his bad breath was found out. I can take the clothes pin off my nose now!
