My Doctor prescribed taking drug named "Pylera". It is similar to "Helidac" but the duration and dosage are shoter/less.
Does anyone have successfuly eradicated HP with either one of these drugs?

I took Pylera. I finished the 10 day (12 pills + 2 omeprazole) on 1/02/12, I had endoscope done on 2/06/12, Pylera did eradicate the bacteria.
Any questions about my experiance with Pylera just ask.

This morning I took my first Pylera pill and I hope this medicine will help me to finally eradicate h.pylori. Unfortunately Pylera seems to be my salvage option. Four years ago I was treated with Prevpac, not re-tested afterwards and obviously the bacteria wasn't killed.
Even that I don't have any other treatment option, I am very afraid of all side effects Pylera medicine does. There are so many people complaining about their horrible experience during the treatment that I am just scared.
Did you have any serious side effects? How did you handle them? Also, do you know if soy milk can be substituted for regular milk? I think I would not survive 10 days without milk and yogurt.
Thank you very much for your promt response!

Please understand that not everyone will experiance the side effects that I did. My immune system is weak (Thyroid Cancer, Dieabetic).
I can't do milk or soy milk, so I do Almond milk and I do eat yogurt and take a probiotic. During my course of meds, eating oatmeal and eggs, yogurt and Ensure was all I could eat, I lost 40 pounds in less than 5 weeks, I just could not eat.
Remember this is just what I went thru.
difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; bone pain; confusion; increased urination; fast or irregular heartbeat; hallucinations; loss of taste or sense of smell; mental or mood changes (eg, depression); muscle weakness; nightmares; pain, severe diarrhea; severe stomach pain severe or persistent dizziness; dark urine; pale stools; severe or persistent nausea, loss of appetite, unusual tiredness); tremors; trouble sleeping and sense of doom.
Of all my health issues, this HP is the darkest, worst ever. HP brought me to God, my character is just a normal guy, not over the top, but just sensible.
Pylera brought me to tears.
I pray and cannot get enough of Gods word in me, but this HP might be my saving grace to the grace of God.
I sure hope and pray that you do well with the meds and if you have any questions let me know.

I am on my 8th day but have decided to stop. Side effects or to much. Constant nausea, slight diahrea, confusion, dizziness, brown urine, frequent urination, headache, sour taste in mouth, and now both hip joints hurt so im done before it makes me permantly disabled.

On the 6th day of taking "Pylera", I had to use a walker, I was so weak, I was sure I was poisning myself to death. All the people around me were concernd and told me that I did not look well. For a couple of nights we had prayer vigils at my house, it looked, tasted and smelt of death. This is what I felt like.
Do what you think is right for you. I will pray for you.

Diagnosed as suffering from H. Pylori after having gone improperly diagnosed for years i was prescribed Pylera. I just took my 2nd dose of Pylera and have experienced no adverse effects thus far. I am optimistic this will finally rid me of my stomach problems!

I started and completed the dosage.my side effects were limited: dark stool and frequent urination. My symptoms for 12yrs seems to be disappearing except for minor pains at times, but sometimes have to take pepcid for relief. In all, the pills appears effective but I need to do the breathe test as per my doctor.

Hi, I have been diagnosed with H.Pylori and prescribed Pylera and generic prilosec to get rid of the infection. My question to others is with this has anyone had pain in their right abdomen area with this? I have been reading on the subject and I see abdominal pain but all seem to note central area or left. I am worried that my gi doc may not be treating what is causing my pain. I also have swelling that is visable by my hipbone.
I have had a lower abd ct with contrast, an internal and external ultrascan that noted that my female organs were ok, hidascan(gallbladder), blood tests, stool tests, endoscopy, and they are telling me there is nothing found as far as swelling of any other organs. I feel like i am swolen from the inside. When i am on my feet for more than a few minutes I hurt really bad. Could this bacteria make me hurt like this on my right side? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I have been prescribed the Pylera/generic Prilosec combo. After 3 days minimal/no side effects, so I am very optimistic. Hopefully the H pylori will be eradicated after the 10 day course.

Hi Tara, during the 2009 summer I started having different symptoms. I never had any major stomach problem before but slowly during a three months period a had all of them, the ones you read in this forum.
one of them was severe pain on my right side that is why my Doctor ordered a scan of the gall bladder, liver and pancreas.
Pancreas because I also had mild pain on midwaist left side. Probably he said I had a duodenal ulcer.
I had the triple antibiotic therapy not Pylera but that was almost three year ago.

I am on my 4th day of Pylera and doing pretty well overall with minimal side effects! The main ones being tired & loose stools. I hope this medicine takes care of this nasty lurking infection!

I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer in August, H Pylori type. I was put on PrevPac for 14 days, was a tough course to get through cause of side effects - primarily nausea, tiredness and headaches. It has been six weeks since I finished my course, and I am due for my Breath test on Monday, 11/12 to check for eradication. I still have symptoms however, mostly gas, bloating and indigestion, especially if I eat anything that is a tad hard to digest. My GI said he will try Pylera next, in case my HP is not gone, I may have developed resistance to Clarithrmycin in PrevPac. How has your experience been with Pylera, all done with the 10 day course?
Any out of control side effects, besides tiredness and a little loose motions? Thanks for your help.

Recently I have done lots of research. Before I started the helidac I was scared as shit! I guess I can say I think the anxiety caused most of my problems while on these meds. I'm scared at each dosing time. I haven't died so so should be good lol. IM 29 male. The symptoms I have been having on helidac . Now remember my anxiety is severe and I hear every heart beat.
Fear at times
Confusion at times
Mental crazy thoughts at times
Tremors in my chest
Heart palpatation and a fib ( me be from my pre existing a fib)
I feel like I'm catching the flu at 7 days in.
Tomorrow is day 10 so I have 5 more days its not all that fun but I'm making it through!

I have suffered from h. pylori (undiagnosed at first) for years. After surgery, where I was fitted with a tight garment aroung stomach and chest, I started burping so severely, I thought I would belch out my esophagus. This is a nightmare. The acid in my stomach has been bubbling up to my mouth and destroying my teeth, though I have impeccable dental hygiene.
I have taken prevpac, twice, with no relief. My cousin, who is a gastro-enterologist in Greece, told me to take bismuth, tetracycline and metronidazole. So, I asked my doctor for a script. Problem is tetracycline has been "on order" for nearly 2 years. There is plenty of tetracycline for these new drugs, helidac and pylera, but not to be sold separately. They are charging $900 for the Helidac therapy, when separately, they cost less than $60. Then we have these ignorant slobs from the right wing, that scream nonsense. Please tell me where is there a bigger shake-down of the American people than cost of health care? I cannot get relief because I have no insurance and cannot afford this despicably and inexplicably, expensive medicine. But I can pay for the contents, separately.
Somebody, please get angry at this besides me. It is BLACKMAIL and taking hostage of the American people. And shame on us that do nothing about it. SHAME!!!

Ok its been a few days since finishing. The only feeling I'm getting is an empty stomach feeling ( gnawing pains) once I eat it goes away. I hope I eraticated this bacteria!
I looked for side affects on mastic gun for the heart. I just saw it lowers BP. I don't wanna go into Afib because I tried something doctors didn't approve. But I really wanna try it. Is it gum or capsules?
