Mastic gum really really works. If anyone experiences side effects, its not the mastic gum but probably a healing crisis. Its not bad for the liver at all.
Mastic gum actually helps the liver. The "Journal of Ethnopharmacology" study also found liver protective effects associated with mastic. Blood tests of participants taking 5g of mastic daily showed decreased levels of certain liver enzymes compared to initial levels, an indicator of better liver health. Read more: http://www.livestrong.com/article/267577-what... There were signs of improvements in liver function as indicated by a drop in several key liver enzymes. Those using the lower-dose mastic exhibited a decrease in blood glucose levels, but only in males. This trial is very useful because there have been a few animal studies that questioned the safety of mastic on the liver. It could be that the dosage used, the duration of the experiments or physiological differences among humans and rats account for this discrepancy. http://www.healthyfellow.com/433/mastic-gum/ |

Judged: 1 1 1 I had these same burping and cramping up before the SEVERE PAIN came on. Wish I had listened to my body and stopped. I would be normal today if I had stopped at the first sign of cramps in the stomach. |

I've had recurring attacks for most of my adult life. Recently discovered crystallized ginger to be an effective antidote for the agonies. Relief is almost immediate. I buy small cartons of the stuff at health food stores; 'Sprouts' and others carry it.
It may not kill the h-pylori, but it does kill the pains and the nausea very well. |

I agree All brands are not created equal one time I bought a generic benedryl I and took it I ended up in the ER TWICE for racing heart, shortness breath I was on oxygen! My private dr called and said stop taking the generic benedryl,...some cheap generic stuff may have dye or who knows what it mixed in there, Jarrow is the best.

Judged: 1 1 1 Jarrow being the best is subjective. Jarrow's mastic gum is the one I used which destroyed my life. It gave me cramps, excessive burping and the finally SEVERE EXCRUCIATING PAIN. It destroyed my kidneys and liver and my stomach cells no longer produce acid due to the adverse effect of Jarrow's mastic gum. Moreover Jarrows is CHEAPER than nutricology. Anyway as far as I am concerned ALL mastic gum should be stayed away from. All of it comes from the same trees made by nature and one tree is not going to be better than the other in any sense. They are all going to produce the same quality resin. Some manufacturers may add different ingredients to the process of creating the pills but at the end of the day mastic gum is essentially what it sounds like-a gum or a glue. That should not be consumed by any human being. At least the way the Greeks use it from my research is that they chew the natural unprocessed gum that is not a pill and they throw the chewed gum away. Whereas with the pill this same gum is grounded up and added with other things and placed in a pill form so essentially persons are consuming the gum resin in totality. So perhaps that's why it causes harm to some persons. |

I don't think the "real" God is happy about any of this talk, please get back to the subject, we are losing people all the time. If I were visiting this site, and read this silly stuff I wouldn't come back, and who knows how many people miss getting helped because of silliness like this. I am serious about helping people because I know I almost died from H.Pylori and I would like to be able to share my healing with as many people as possible. Again, we should be sharing our experiences with Mastic instead of saying that those who carry the products are demonic or that they are gods. If we share our experience people can make their own decision about using it, we don't have to bring God into this or demons, how silly can people get??? I am personally a little sick of it. |

It sounds like you have a leaky gut. L-Glutamine is supposed to help with healing it. You have to try to kill the parasites (bacteria, viruses, etc), keep taking high count probiotics (I take CP-1 from Custom Probiotics; 50-62BN CFUs), and heal the gut. ALL of these things must be done simultaneously, or it will take a LOT longer, and the last thing you want to do is run out of time. |

hi I am very happy because I just got the call from my Dr this week and my stool test was clear of H pylori. I could not take the Mastic gum which I did order to try. It made my heart feel funny. I was diagnosed with H pylori when I was in the hospital for the 3rd time in 3 weeks with symptoms that felt heart related. had five stents and still was having difficulty with neck pain and chest pressure and heartburn. Last hospital stay cardiologist ordered endoscopy and my stomach was in terrible shape. They did a biopsy and it was h pylori. I tried to take the antibiotics they ordered which was amoxicillen and Biaxin. It was awful and I quit after 5 days. My tummy was bloated and I had to be careful what I ate. I got some Gastro Health , Manuka honey, probiotic from the health food store and took that for four weeks along with protonix then added oregano oil to that which I have been taking for four more weeks. Had the stool test last week and got the call this week. Last week I could finally tell I was better. Quit having the bloating. I had lots of prayer at our Church too. I am so thankful I Have been shouting.

And BTW as I was reading a couple of months ago trying to figure what to do I read where someone posted the ingredients that were in matula tea and it was the same as is in the Gastro health capsules. The main ingredient being licorice root extract. The Gastro health is made by Natures Sunshine. You can order it online from their company. I am still taking it and plan to for another two weeks.

Hi there, I know this thread was posted quite a while ago, but I wanted to comment about your palpitations, especially if you had been taking a PPI. You should supplement with Mg as PPI's can affect the absorbtion of Magnesium. You will have to soak in Epsom salt or Mg flakes as you need stomach acid to absorb the Mg orally. There is also Transdermal Mg oil- Ancient Minerals is good. I would also keep up your Potassium. If you get your Mg levels up then that will help bring up anything else that may be low. Annmarie |

Hi everyone, just want to share my experience with mastic gum. have been taking it 3 months, to deal withmy duodenal ulcer. the first month two times each day, it worked very well. In the afternoon my stomach would feel like bloated and I had no appetite for the supper. I would then take a pill of mastic gum of 500 mg. In half an hour, the stomach began to feel better and my appetite came back. The pain from the ulcer gradually lessened. Now I am almost cured but I continue to have one tablet before going to bed. Had not side effects whatsoever.
Some people like pork, some like beef. Everyone's response is unique to swallowing a given substance. For chemical drugs, despite their clinical trials and other processes, who can say they are safe on you, as an individual. They may have proved to work on 80% of patients, but that does not mean they will work on you to an extent of 80%. Doctors know better about a desease as a whole, a group of patients as a whole, but they may not know you as well as you do. Also it is unwise and narrow-minded to assume other people will experience the same effects as oneself does to a given substance. |
I couldn't have said it better, excellent observation and insightful. I just had this experience this week when I pulled two muscles in my back, it was so painful I went to the doctor and in "his" knowledge according to the "education" he had, he offered me muscle relaxers and Lora-tab for pain. I declined and went to the professional on natural health. I spent some time talking about what was happening in my body. He recommended Curamin, and after reading the information I decided that was to be my choice. I started taking it Thursday, and one side of my back pain has totally subsided, and the other side is doing so much better. I am still in some pain, but I know that while taking this I am not masking the pain, but allowing the natural solution to work, I also do not have to put up with the side effects from the doctors solution. I have nothing against doctors, after all I did seek a doctors assistance with my back and when I had H.Pylori, but then I made the decision that I felt comfortable with. Again, thank you for your explanation, that is what I have been trying to say for some time now. Now, lets move on to letting people make their own decision about their own treatment. Sharon |

Wow, over the past couple of mornings I've caught up on approximately one year worth of posts. First of all on surprised with all of the drama in here. It seems the majority of folks in here have been really patient with it but it seems there are one or two that just can't let it go. Any hint of a flare up of the drama and all hell breaks lose with emotions flying everywhere. Sounds sorta like h.pylori itself. Please let it go. Please. If you disagree with a post to the point where you are getting emotional and about to get personal with your comments or feel the need to add CAPS or exclamations, please just take a break away from your computer before you reply to the post.
Regarding my experience with h.pylori, I started my first treatment with mastic gum and probiotics in Jan 2011. My dosage and length of treatment has varied but I seem to experience reoccurring symptoms every 6 months. Jan, July, Jan, July consistently. The mastic gum definitely relieves the symptoms and I can even go without it for months but at the 6 month mark it is back. This time I'm going to add some broccoli sprout supplement and I will try to up the mastic gum to 1000mg every 8 hours. Although I know I won't be good at keeping that schedule because 1000mg twice a day is enough to keep the symptoms away. This thread and the h pylori forum seem to be an excellent resource for this problem. Please everyone try to keep it that way. Seriously it shouldn't be too difficult to just walk away for a bit when you feel yourself getting worked up. |

Hi, Hi, you refer to atrophic gastritis, did you have the Type A or Type B Gastritis and was it caused by infection with Helicobacter pylori or Autoimmune in origin? |
