After much investigation(due to the dreaded H Pylori and field of ulcers i suffer) into this 'Matula Tea' and searching for companies that sell this 'miracle' tea and speaking with my pharmologist friend, i have now found that all the different named websites offering advice and matula tea take you back to just one company!(very clever marketing!)after several emails asking for the ingredient list of their matula tea they wouldnt divulge, so they have quite obviously branded it and keeping the African ingredients a secret to actually be able to sell it at 160 dollars for a 60 day course!, well now i hope to enlighten you, the main core ingredient is rooibos,(google it) you can buy it, its also known as redbush tea, only from Africa, i started 2 weeks ago with 3 cups of rooibos tea a day and 1g mastic gum morning and 1g evenings, and for the first time in two long painful years my symptoms have gone! im going to continue with the high dose for 60 days (as rec by my pharmalogist friend)if anyone wants to email me for progress over the 60 days feel free utome76@hotmail.com, i hate companies that rip people off!!

Julie Spain,

LOL! I used to drink Rooibos (Red) Tea! Haven't had it in a while, but was diagnosed with H. Pylori by my Gastroenterologist last summer 2011. I have to be honest, I think without his intervention I might be dead now or at least have colon, gastric or some other form of cancer..

I wasn't having bm's, had constant and very aggravating gas, lots of problems with ovarian cysts, hair loss, discoloring of skin (I became several shades darker with clear lines of hyper pigmentation - one being a perfectly defined "bikini" tan line though I always wore full articles of clothing fully covering my skin). Specialist to specialist failed to diagnose what I described suffering from (derm, OB, etc.).

Finally my fam doc. sent me to the GI doc. When I described my symptoms he scheduled me for a Colonoscopy. The day of the procedure he told me he was going to perform a "scope". The results from bio tests resulted in his staff hunting me down to inform me of the infection (but thank God no polyps) and placing me on a two week antibiotic therapy.

After the 14 day cocktail, I've tried going holistic with much success with licorice root & ginger tea along with Organo Gold Coffee whose main ingredient/selling point is Ganoderma Lucidum. The ganoderma product took it to the next level! I cramped and ran constantly to the toilet. Gross, but the rot H. Pylori makes was being excavated out of my body and body tissues!

H. Pylori affected me by causing a huge cortisol trigger, de-oxygenation of my blood (and obviously cells), toxic body reaction creating a cellulitic response, anemia (not pernicious yet, but not that far away either). Hitting me hard in all the areas I can't chance as I carry the gene for Hemoglobin C in the Sickle Cell tree (What physicians won't tell you is: many people whith these so called "traits" struggle with low immunity even if they did not inherit the full disease. Just ask me and my two sons who have the trait and my healthy-as-a-mule-daughter who doesn't); I suffer from Polycystic Ovarian disorder; I have low blood pressure, endometriosis and fibroids - just to name a few.

Haven't the slightest idea where this came from, but have always had stomach/constipation/food issues since a small child. Mom smoked/drank (back in the day folks did thinking nothing of it), had 8 children, but I was the only abnormal delivery (breech) and sickly. So don't know which came first - the chicken or the egg.

Still, have to count this discovery as a blessing - it's all leading me down a better path. Though I don't drink much (glass of wine here and there couple of times a year), smoke and live a holistic lifestyle filled with meditation, Naturopathic remedies, etc. I'm learning more and more, slowly unraveling the cord.

Lately, I started gaining weight back (around the middle as cortisol targets this area), concerned about effects on cardio health. Need a firmer grasp on this as I suppose therapy has to be life long. Skin is still bad (One of the first areas it attacked was the beautiful, clear complexion I once had. Back then, 6 years ago, I didn't know what had hit me! My thick, lustrous hair fell, microscopic bugs felt like they were excavating my face and my pigmentation changed. Also I suffered a lot with Candida infections originally thinking it the root cause.) Now I know it was the beginning of the outbreak). Left leg being really impacted by the cellulite with veins being damaged (more impact of H.P.).

Doc after doc couldn't help and believe me I'm sure most thought I was psycho, lol! Just hung in there, kept learning. My youngest is only 7. Can't let this take me out or pass to my child. So please share with me whatever has helped. Die off is big, but reinfection (Quite a bit hidden deep down because my stomach has cellulite craters only recently as the symptoms deepened and progressed). My tummy looked six months pregnant and got bigger each month). My email is massagemaiden@gmail.com.

Hi John, who recommended mastic gum to you? How long did you use it for and what brand did you use? Did you have anti-biotic treatment? If not I would suggest that you do so and do not focus on these herbal remedies. If you had anti-biotics before and you are able to tolerate it then you need to have follow up treatment. Many persons require 2 or even 3 treatments before it is gone. I also learned from a pharmacist that they are more effective when taken on an empty stomach. So try them again and ask the doctor to give you quadruple therapy with the bismuth and while taking them drink cranberry juice as it helps to keep the bacteria from adhering to the lining and easier for the antibiotics to reach it.

hi all!
those who follow my story, I will update.
I'm using mastic gum for 5 month ovaroll.
I used 1000mg for one month, then 2 months 500mg and again 2 months of 1000mg.
still taking it daily, 1000mg. I felt improvement only on the 1000mg, the 500mg kept it in bay and nothing more.
Also I'm very skinny, you might want to take higher doses.

My condition went from being unable to function to the point I hardly feel my stomach.
I think those of you who take the treatment need to consider a long-term treatment because it took me a while to feel better. and took about 5 months to feel 90% better (almost normal)
The mastic gum did some bad to me at the beginning of the treatment.
I'm sure it was die off of the bacteria (you can see what it did to me in my earlier posts).
Did some blood-work after 4 months and they didn't show mastic gum hurt anything...

you can ask me if you want to know more.
good luck!

Sultana,

I had a metal taste in my mouth when i was taking Flagyl. It is the side effects of the antibiotic, in retrospect, i should have stopped taking it, that antibiotic did not help me. Actually i took 6 courses of antibiotics and they did not help me, i still have the h-pylori, the 6th course, i had bad side effects, i stopped it right away. I am under the supervision of a Gastroenterologist. Now, i started following a natural remedy which is: Oregano oil, Coconut oil and others. I went to Dr. Ettinger and i am following his protocol.

If you read some of the earlier posts on this same forum you will find persons who complained of delayed gastric emptying, constipation which all happened to me and my digestive tract is damaged to where I now have a vitamin b12 deficiency because the corrosive action of mastic to my stomach makes it impossible for me to absorb b12 and other nutrients. Mastic is what caused it without a doubt. I took it in April and my troubles started then and never stopped. So if persons want to take it then it is at their own risk. But it would be selfish of me not to post my terrible experience with mastic because if it was a good one I would have posted it just the same. Whether good or bad the potential effects of a product must be made known to everyone so that they can make informed decisions.
The H. Pylori infection itself can cause B12 deficiency because of the damage it does to your stomach lining.

Yes i do know that but before I took the mastic gum, my b12 levels were midway and normal, therefore all I had to do was get rid of h pylori and heal up my stomach and the cells would have regenerated and my b12 would have improved one that was done. However, I made the error of using mastic gum which caused me SEVERE PAIN and I do mean SEVERE as it glued itself to my cells and ripped them apart hence destroying them and therfore I lost the opportunity to repair and recover my stomach. without those cells stomach acid was lost and so was intrinsic factor hence pernicious anemia set in. if I had used the anti-biotics which never caused me pain a day in my life, I would be fine and that's what I keep saying over and over again. My B12 was normal as it was midway at around 500 before mastic gum destroyed my cells and my life. That's why i say keep away from it. One never knows what it will do to them. my stomach was already thin bit it had quite a few functioning cells because I had no problem digesting my foods before and no problems with bowel movements.

Who conducted the studies on mastic gum? Where were the studies conducted? How long were they conducted for? Were there human trials and if so how long were these human trials conducted for?

KassyS,

I understand your concerc about mastic gum and side effects (if any). But let me ask you something! I think you know that every drug on this planet has or could have a side effect depending of each organism.
Think only about the chimioterapry. There are many people who have succesfully cure cancer and live longer even if for a periode the chemoterapy therapy has had a strong side effect on their body. But what to choose? Having no side effects at all or curing a terible disease? I also know cases where they didn't use chemotherapy and use instead herbs and tea and a "stronng" atitude. But? Dead. it could be also that the body is to weak to reist to chemotherapy and coull also lead to death, but, this is to be established by the doctors, the right thing to do.
Now, comming back to the issue, if Helicobater is already established a no. 1 factor in the gastritis, ulcer and stomac cancer, I would prefer to have some side effects (from antibiotic or mastic gum or whatever) but to get rid of it as quick as possible. Think about it, and stop blame Mastic Gum. You shall not find the real truth on this forum, and do not waste your time and others.

if you are h.pylori negative, drink fermented unripe plantain, it il heal your ulcer, it is stinky but it coats the ulcer area and supplies it with biflavonoids. to get maximum healing, take it wlth fermented cabbage juice, cabbage has gluthamine which speeds up mucosal healing and lactosebacilli. contact me at onuchukwuchubby@yahoo.com
