Part-timers to lose pay amid health act's new math

May 6, 2013 | Posted by: Mr_Bill | Full story: www.latimes.com

The law requires large employers offering health insurance to include part-time employees working 30 hours a week or more.

Consider the city of Long Beach. It is limiting most of its 1,600 part-time employees to fewer than 27 hours a week, on average. City officials say that without cutting payroll hours, new health benefits would cost up to $2 million more next year, and that extra expense would trigger layoffs and cutbacks in city services.

Ronald, did this current president start the free phone program? Was he the mastermind behind it?

Well, I don't believe Obama was the first to impose the telephone tax that the Government imposed on "full rate payers" that eventually resulted in free Obamaphones for his fellow Africans. I do believe Obama is "taking credit" though, and I believe he expanded the program. Here is a link to a typical Obama voter from the Cleveland area who is more knowledgeable on the subject of Obamaphones than I.

Most likely he is known as the food stamp president because conservative campaign strategists sat around in some room trying to think of a catch phrase to get their base whipped up. It might have even been the same guys that came up with the socialist garbage, which is laughable, as the pres is a typical centrist dem.

When did he personally take credit for the program?

So are we to take it that you believe "hard work" should be viewed as a pejorative? Isn't that the philosophy of the 60s 70s revolutionaries (now in power) whose failed social and economic theories got us in the mess we are in today?

Hard work can be a good or bad thing. It is not universally good, as many on the right wing like to believe.

Yes. I agree. In more enlightened societies, miscreants who are sentenced to prison for wrongful acts are sentenced at hard labor. Prior to the revolutionaries coming to power, this was a common practice in our own country, a practice that is in accordance with 13th Amendment RIGHTS that are granted all convicted criminals.

Our current prison system needs review. It is simply unconscionable that the most sadistic and bloodthirsty of prisoners should have the RIGHT to feed off of hard working taxpayers, being rewarded with the finest Government approved food, air conditioned quarters! free taxpayer provided medical and dental care, and state of the art gymnasiums where wealthy prison guards allow criminals to "buff out" in order to have even greater advantage over their victims after their "early release".

I don't have any solution to this vexatious problem. Perhaps you could volunteer a few suggestions. Any suggestion you might provide would be greatly appreciated.

#1 Under Bill Clinton, the average unemployment rate was 5.2 percent. Under George W. Bush, the average unemployment rate was 5.3 percent. Under Barack Obama, things have been much worse. The month after he took office the unemployment rate rose above 8 percent and it has stayed there ever since.

#2 Under Barack Obama, the velocity of money (a very important indicator of economic health) has plunged to a post-World War II low.

#3 Real median household income has decreased by more than 4000 dollars since Barack Obama entered the White House.

#4 The United States has plenty of oil and we should not have to import it from the Middle East. Unfortunately, Barack Obama has an absolutely nightmarish energy policy. Under Bill Clinton, the number of drilling permits approved rose by 58 percent. Under George W. Bush, the number of drilling permits approved rose by 116 percent. Under Barack Obama, the number of drilling permits approved decreased by 36 percent.

#5 When Barack Obama took office, the average price of a gallon of gasoline was $1.85. Today, the average price of a gallon of gasoline is $3.71.

#6 Under Barack Obama, the United States has lost more than 300,000 education jobs.

#7 Since Barack Obama became president, the number of long-term unemployed Americans has risen from 2.7 million to 5.2 million.

#8 For the first time in the post-World War II era, the employment-population ratio has not bounced back after a recession. The percentage of working age Americans with a job has been below 59 percent for 35 months in a row.

#9 While Barack Obama has been president, U.S. home values have fallen by another 12 percent.

#10 More than three times as many new homes were sold in the United States in 2005 as will be sold in 2012.

#11 Electricity bills in the United States have risen faster than the overall rate of inflation for five years in a row. Thanks Obama.

#12 When Barack Obama first entered the White House, an ounce of gold was going for about $850. Today, the price of gold is over $1630 an ounce.

#13 Since 2008, our economy has lost 1.3 million jobs while at the same time 3.6 million more Americans have been added to Social Security’s disability insurance program.

#14 The number of Americans on food stamps has grown from 31.9 million when Barack Obama took office to 46.4 million today. How much more “hope and change” are we going to be able to endure?

#15 As I wrote about the other day, it is being projected that Obamacare will add 16 million more Americans to the Medicaid rolls.

#16 If you can believe it (and this really is hard to believe), more than half of all Americans are now at least partially financially dependent on the government.

#17 The total amount of money that the federal government gives directly to the American people has grown by 32 percent since Barack Obama became president.

#18 Under Barack Obama, federal spending as a percentage of GDP (25 percent) is the highest that it has been since World War II.

#19 The Obama administration has been spending money on some of the most insane things imaginable. For example, in 2011 the Obama administration spent $592,527 on a study that sought to figure out once and for all why chimpanzees throw poop.

#20 The U.S. government has run a budget deficit of well over a trillion dollars every single year under Barack Obama.

#21 Under Barack Obama, U.S. debt was downgraded from AAA status for the first time ever.

#22 Since Barack Obama took office, the U.S. national debt has increased by 50 percent.

#23 Since Barack Obama became president, the U.S. national debt has increased by an average of more than $64,000 per taxpayer.

#24 During the Obama administration, the U.S. national debt has grown more than it did from the time that George Washington became president to the beginning of Bill Clinton’s second term as president.

The ACA wasn't intended to improve anything. It was intended to give more POWER to Big Brother. It won't be bad for Californians. We already prove we don't give a crap about much including our own families best interests as voters keep electing the Union Owned Unioncrat Slavers.

So what? Just because a worker starts as a minimum wage employee doesn't mean he is destined to remain at that level of pay. Or have the radical 60s 70s era revolutionary ruling class (now in power) imposed restrictive labor laws requiring entry level employees to remain at entry level pay?
As far as receiving taxpayer funded food-stamps, housing payments, and expensive "free" taxpayer provided Obama phones goes - not to speak of taxpayer provided lifelong "disability" support - there are whole northern cities filled to overflowing with Africans who are "plugged into the system", including the increasingly violent and destructive African children of dangerous fast-breeding "players".
I suspect most overtaxed Americans would prefer their hard earned tax money be spent on our returning vets who are eager to do productive labor until they gain the skills needed to advance to higher pay grades than wasted on the life-long support of the violent children of "the players" and taxpayer supported Baby African Mamas.

you know that statistically, a higher percentage of white people get benefits than black people right?

whatever.

Not a higher percentage, just a greater overall number....

You may either want to check your "facts" or more carefully phrase what you are trying to say

38.8% are black

Yes. You are right. Both the White "Liberals" and the Africans insisted they be judged by the content of their character rather than by the color of their skin. Now they are mad as hornets.

U.S. Population:
72.1% are white
12.6% are black

You do realize that the percent of recipients who are white is not the same as the % of whites that are recipients, don't you?

If your point was that there are a lot more whites in the U.S. than blacks, then yes, your point remains valid.

Year by year they trade the top position if I recall correctly.
