Spinning Obamacare success

Apr 22, 2014 Full story: The Washington Post 418

The Fact Checker was on break last week, but did manage to pass a TV set that aired images of the president's announcement on April 17 that 8 million people had signed up for health insurance on the Affordable Care Act exchanges.

The people who are neither looking for a job or want a job are the labor participation rate figures. Jobs just don't knock on your door, you are either looking for work or you're not.
This doesn't change there are still only 6 Million looking for work and not counted in the 92 Million.

Did you ever interview people that earn minimum wage? They are untrained, and unskilled. These jobs mostly went to High school people just entering the labor force. Now they are people who barely speak the language, and expect $10. an hour.
Yes, Obama voters.

We have 3 labor jobs to fill. You have to check to make sure they have a valid Social, check their immigration status, and they think they are worth $10, an hour if they can find the Men's room by themselves. My husband does those interviews, I would lose patience. They all have trucks. Might not have auto insurance, but they have a truck. Our people have to be insured. We can be held liable.

It could also be that many trucking companies don't want to deliver to California. They have this "No idling" policy which means if you are sleeping in the heat, too bad. You can't run your AC unless you have the special compressor that doesn't require the truck engine to run it. It has it's own engine. I understand they are expensive as all hell.
yeah, we had to buy a couple of CARB compliant units recently, cost way too much to get the new stuff that is required. and a 500 Cummins with no stacks is not normal.

That doesn't change the fact that we have a record in the amount of people not looking for work. That's not a good sign for any country.

It's what we Republicans call the cart theory. If everybody in the village is pulling an empty cart, the cart flies down the road effortlessly. As people become unable to pull the cart, they jump in the cart instead, and the cart moves slower. Pretty soon half of the people give up pulling the cart and they jump in. Now the cart comes to a stop because the people pulling the cart can't pull it any longer. It's too heavy.

We are nearly at that point now; half of our people in the cart. And unless we change direction, soon there will be more people in the cart than those that are pulling. Then what?

Why should multinational companies pay taxes to the US on profits they made outside the US?
When Mitt Romney was running for President, his platform was to eliminate taxes on multinational companies that transferred money to the US. You are correct that any money that crosses our borders is taxed, that's why the money doesn't make it here for investments.
Romney's theory (as a businessman) was that money coming into the US could possibly be used by companies for investments and jobs. But even if that were not the case, the money would still be in the US.
Democrats wanted to rub salt into the wounds. They wanted to further tax multinational corporations on money made outside the US. The Republicans stopped it because they knew that if that took place, those multinational companies would pull out of the US entirely to avoid taxes.
Unfortunately, Mitt is not President and that money remains overseas. If a major multinational company finds itself in financial trouble in the US, they will have to rely on the government bailing them out instead of using their own money from overseas.
George Bush tried repariating overseas earnings at a reduced %. That was no help the economy crashed and burned. Romney sought the same failed idea.

Romney loss because he stood for the same policies that ruined the economy and financial system. It also didnt help he was a vulture who destroyed jobs in pursuit for profit. He provided no services or introduced useful products for the market. Romney was a high dollar scavenger buying troubled assets to liquidate those companies and looting pensions.

Porfitable, but rat dirty job for those left jobless as Romney ran to the bank and court house to file bankruptcy before walking away

That is correct. But gasoline prices were up during Bush's years because there was a lot of economic activity. Now prices are up and not much economic activity going on.
Thats not true the economy began to burst and sour at the end of 2005, In 2006 I was paying the landscaper a fuel surcharge.

The ACA doesn't need to "spin" anything. It's only the Obama-hating liars on the Right that are and have been "spinning" all along.

My fave is the idiots who believe that though millions have signed up, none have 'paid their premiums' and therefore 'Obamacare' is somehow a 'fraud.'

LOL!

That's amazingly stupid.

no one's going to be "indicted" no matter how many self-serving, partisan committees your House Teabaggers call.

Somehow you guys are debating 9.2 million jobs over the last 50 months is not solid growth from losing 600,000 jobs per month under Bush.

let that soak in for a while...

At this pace by the time Obama terms are complete he would seem 18 Million jobs comimg after inheriting a completely collapsed and failed American economy and financial system.

All with the Republicans obstructing and sabotaging his efforts. While slashing the historic bugdet deficits
