Citing Obamacare, Cleveland Clinic to Cut $300M, Warns of Layoff
Spokesperson says aim is to 'keep care affordable.'
By Lylah Alphonse
September 18, 2013 RSS Feed Print Comment () inShare.33 Administrators at the Cleveland Clinic announced on Wednesday that the health care giant would be cutting as much as $300 million from its 2014 budget, and that the cuts will likely include layoffs.
"Health care reform has really changed things, and the burden of cost is going to be falling on patients," spokeswoman Eileen Shiel told The Plain Dealer. "We want to make sure we can keep care affordable."
[READ: Hospital of Tomorrow: How the Industry is Facing the Future]
During a regularly scheduled quarterly meeting, Cleveland Clinic President and Chief Executive Dr. Toby Cosgrove told employees about plans to reduce operating expenses by about 6 percent, and cited the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, as one of the reasons for the cuts.
"To prepare for health care reform, Cleveland Clinic is transforming the way care is delivered to patients," the Clinic's representatives said in a statement. "Over the past several years, we have had an ongoing focus on driving efficiencies, lowering costs, reducing duplication in services and enhancing quality to make health care affordable to patients."
There will be plenty of hospitals that will be negatively effected by the bastard law.But you keep the faith because I have no trust or faith in a liar for a pres.
Now King Oblamer has delayed the small business mandate, yet another constitutional violation in a long line of violations.
Now the failed website won't be up by the end of the month as promised either.
One lie after another ,and, one failure after the next for the most incompetent elected official EVER.

<quoted text>How are we going to cover the better than 20 million illegal aliens? Are we going to throw them into the pool too or are they just going to continue to use the emergency room? Liberal spendthrifts are full of these crazy, unaffordable ideas.
Let's start off by pointing out that you just pull numbers out of your ass. What's new with that?

Oh they absolutely will still have to use the emergency room and the rest of us will have to pay for it. That is a Republican requirement and sadly there is nothing that can be done about it. Setting up self-inflicted problems and then complaining at what they themselves have accomplished is standard procedure for the right.

Obviously allowing them to buy insurance would solve that problem, but that is the least of it. Any insurance pool depends on younger healthier people to spread the costs out. The more young people the better. That lowers the rates for EVERYBODY.

The average undocumented person is younger than the average American and they have also been shown to use medical facilities at approximately half the rate of Americans. That is simply a gold mine for the rest of us, but unfortunately saving money and solving problems takes a back seat to mindless racism. That goes for the undocumented as well as the black President.

By the way, it is rather curious that you impart no information at all yet each of your posts demands answers. The funny part is that when you get the answers you demand you have no idea what to say next. Feel free to pivot to another unrelated topic on your next post. We certainly expect it.

Naturally big, for-profit hospitals are upset that health care will be less expensive and that costs will be brought down. The CLeveland Clinic is one of those that's profited from fraud againt Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurers. The gravy train ride is over, now. Fire some of your bloated, overpaid administrators!
And naturally with that everyone including you will get substandard care.Fire some of the union bloated over paid administrators.

I thought you had agreed to look up the word "socialism" in a dictionary so you could learn the meaning.

Here is a quick course for you. When a program is set up that allows people to buy insurance policies from private for profit corporations that is called capitalism.

When somebody does not have insurance and shows up at an emergency room without money everybody else has to pay for their treatment. That is socialism.

WASHINGTON – While the rush grows to meet Saturday’s self-imposed deadline for improving the ObamaCare website, the real story behind the government’s success or failure may be hidden in the abysmal state-run exchange figures.

The White House has been busy pitching the plan’s merits across the country and flown in the A-Team of tech experts to work round-the-clock on a major makeover for the online portal.

In fact, by the middle of November,14 state-based marketplaces reported data showing enrollment numbers doubling from the disastrous roll out a month earlier, to 150,000 from 79,000.

But the numbers are still below where they should be. In Colorado, for example, enrollment figures are below the state’s own worst-case projections.

Got to hand it to you libturds your masters at spin.Still full of cow dung though. This is a disaster and sinking faster than the titantic.

Evidence? The law was passed, any changes to the law must come through Congress,he's not King or Emporer so that is a violation. The "take care claus" in the constitution states that potus must enforce laws, not modify or change at his discretion.Maybe that's what you turds want, is to live under a single ruler. Can't figure you trolls out.

Romnneycare was long considered the gold standard for these type of programs. It has a 98% enrollment rate. To date the enrollment rate for the ACA has been FIVE TIMES greater than the enrollment rate for Romneycare after two months.

Hi there Gomer! As a matter of fact it has, Sweden has more millionaires per capita than any other country, Sweden is one of the happiest countries in world. Sweden is not considered a socialist country but it has extensive socialistic gov't policies. There are only 7 countries that make references to socialism in their constitution.
