NONE! How many times have you used the ER for a primary care doctor?

I have never used the ER for primary care and use some common sense in regard to medical treatment. I've also paid all medical bills for my treatment. If I have a swollen foot after a trauma do I go to an orthopedist whose specialize in things like broken bones, torn ligaments etc or do I go to an ER who will run a battery of unnecessary and excessively priced tests and then send me to an orthopedist? Duh

California is creating the kind of modern, liberal nation the country as a whole can only dream about, not only can’t the rest of the country stop us, we will drag you with us. In 2010 when many other states, falling for the right-wing fantasy-lies, were electing tea party Republicans to office, California elected Jerry Brown. Without a Republican governor or state legislator blocking any and all efforts at reform, the state was able to raise taxes (imagine that) and reorganize spending and turn its massive deficit into a budget surplus.

Um,the deficit might have been erased, however beaucoups of debt is still in place, as the state still faces a $1.9 billion shortfall according to the Legislative Analyst’s Office. Brown is merely being opitimistic and it seems you are as well. That's all well and good, but don't be too upset if you find out that it was all a pipedream.

I've done exactly what I said without insurance. I've gone right to specialists to avoid a primary care and/or an ER visit.

You ASSume everyone goes to the ER without INSURANCE. That's part of the problem too many patients who have taken little or no responsibility for their health and/or want instant gratification ie the ER. And that includes those who want prescription drugs wether it be painkillers or antibiotics. They fail to educate themselves on health and/or first aid. You have to go to a doctor to have him tell you to ice it? With or without the INSURANCE a trip to the ER is frequently is a waste. There are emergencies and there are trips to the ER.

You should check out individual plans with Anthem Blue Cross. They have a non-subsidized bronze plan for one adult that is $500 per month with a $7500 deductible and no co-pay after the deductible. Perfect for your catastrophic fixation!

You have no idea what you are talking about. Members of Congress do not want to buy affordable healthcare because they get theirs for free.

You seem to have very little knowledge of how insurance in general works, let alone Obamacare. Somehow I get the feeling that you also receive your insurance for free from your employer. That is great for you, but it does not explain why you piss on people who pay thousands of dollars per month for the same thing you get for free.

That's why they shouldn't be tell others they need to buy insurance. I say all government workers, including the president, should pay for their own. Just make sure they don't raise their salary to cover the cost.

California will only pay the tenth highest rate for Obamacare if they can't beg enough money out of the federal government. They need to learn to pay their own bills. I don't want my taxpayer money going to allow California to ignore federal laws. Screw that.

Oh so you don't believe anybody should receive employer sponsored insurance either. That is a fresh twist.

Some I am guessing you do not have any insurance and will just become a ward of the state one day when the inevitable happens.

I didn't say that. I said government employees, who by the way are paid by taxpayers. Why should I have to help pay for their health insurance, without having any of my own?

Teddy you are full of surprises. I did not expect you to be in favor of Obamacare.
Yes it is ridiculous that millions of people have no option other then to go to the emergency room for minor problems. Unfortunately they have no choice. As you know when you call a doctor the first question they ask is about if you have insurance. If somebody has a pre-existing condition and can not buy insurance they will either be turned away by the doctor or they will be charged a higher rate then people with insurance. Thank goodness this is no longer an issue.
You make light of minor ailments, but of course you understand that all catastrophic illnesses start as minor issues.
Boo....here in Ct.. the poor--WITH insurance---use the ER as their doctor's office. They will call an ambulance for a stomach or headache. They have medicaid and abuse it with no remorse. Work in city govt.....see it all day long.
