Don't matter we get free healthcare. The left wins (as they should) and the American people win (as they should). This is a great day in American history! Finally the government is working for us.

What people don't understand is that this is exactly what the GOP wants in the first place. The health reform law was literally crafted by the GOP to begin with and the mandatory clause for people to buy PRIVATE insurance only benefits GOP's major donors.

This is why the expansion of medicare coverage part was struck down but the mandatory coverage portion was not. Afterall, why would the GOP care about old people.

The law states that you either have insurance, pay the tax or face prosecution. This is going to affect many people in President Obama's base who can afford neither.

Employers may decide paying the tax is cheaper than providing insurance coverage for their employees. How many workers will lose their insurance now?

STEPHANOPOULOS: You were against the individual mandate…

OBAMA: Yes.

STEPHANOPOULOS:…during the campaign. Under this mandate, the government is forcing people to spend money, fining you if you don’t. How is that not a tax?

OBAMA: Well, hold on a second, George. Here — here’s what’s happening. You and I are both paying $900, on average — our families — in higher premiums because of uncompensated care. Now what I’ve said is that if you can’t afford health insurance, you certainly shouldn’t be punished for that. That’s just piling on. If, on the other hand, we’re giving tax credits, we’ve set up an exchange, you are now part of a big pool, we’ve driven down the costs, we’ve done everything we can and you actually can afford health insurance, but you’ve just decided, you know what, I want to take my chances. And then you get hit by a bus and you and I have to pay for the emergency room care, that’s…

STEPHANOPOULOS: That may be, but it’s still a tax increase.

OBAMA: No. That’s not true, George. The — for us to say that you’ve got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase. What it’s saying is, is that we’re not going to have other people carrying your burdens for you anymore than the fact that right now everybody in America, just about, has to get auto insurance. Nobody considers that a tax increase. People say to themselves, that is a fair way to make sure that if you hit my car, that I’m not covering all the costs.

STEPHANOPOULOS: But it may be fair, it may be good public policy…

OBAMA: No, but — but, George, you — you can’t just make up that language and decide that that’s called a tax increase. Any…

STEPHANOPOULOS: Here’s the…

OBAMA: What — what — if I — if I say that right now your premiums are going to be going up by 5 or 8 or 10 percent next year and you say well, that’s not a tax increase; but, on the other hand, if I say that I don’t want to have to pay for you not carrying coverage even after I give you tax credits that make it affordable, then…

STEPHANOPOULOS: I — I don’t think I’m making it up. Merriam Webster’s Dictionary: Tax —“a charge, usually of money, imposed by authority on persons or property for public purposes.”

Chief Justice Roberts was appointed by GW Bush. It's well known that he's no fan of Obama but his decision is based on constitutional law not political affiliation.

The government is slowly taking over all of our lives and decisions, Everybody better vote Obama out before it gets worse , which it can very easy if hes in there another four years. He has done nothing for us but lie the first 3+ years, he has made everything worse, now we can expect another tank in the stock market due to the stupid decision from the supreme courts as well as expect many more small businesse to go out of business. You can also expect more increases in your cost of insurance, so understanding that everyone needs health insurance, which they do, this is the very very very worst way to go about it. Now this should definatley tell the undecided voters that they MUST turn out in full force to vote for Romney

The people who support this ruling only see it as "free" stuff. They are not concerned about any implications.
.
Once again, they see this as "free" stuff.

Both parties have talked about an individual mandate for years now. Romney did this himself, and Newt Gingrich was involved in groups for years that were trying to get an individiual mandate. They do want people to have to buy health insurance same as they forced people to by liability car insurance.

The tea party's idea about things was that they are old and no longer paying taxes, they wanted government Medicare, SS and several government pensions and screw everyone else and let everyone else pay for everything themselves as long as they did not have to pay for one thing nor save one cent of their own money to live retired. So now the chickens have come home to roost. The next thing will be gutting and privatizing Medicare. There is no way around that. And, employers will be giving incentives for people to not smoke and not be overweight. Now it will matter what people do. This is where personal responsibility really comes in. And the tea party can pay $6,000 a year for a Medicare voucher, take responsibility for paying a bit for their health care and they can also take responsibility for smoking and for being overweight too. Like they always say "take responsibility."

That can be debated as Constitutional law has several viewpoints and approaches. It appears John Roberts had taken a narrow viewpoint.
.
I can see why John Roberts put this decision off to the last possible minute, that coward, so he can run out of town before he gets the anger he deserves.
.
What can't be debated is John Roberts is a uselss f*ck.

It forces people to take responsibility, to have to buy their own health insurance and it forces the wealthy old people to have to pay up a bit for their Medicare. And it forces people to care about their health. If everything is free and you can eat whatever you want and never exercise and just get all of these free drugs for the illnesses that you get from your bad behaviors, then on and on the expenses go. If you have Medicare for almost nothing you don't care what it costs to have tests done or what any of it costs. If you have to go and pay and buy your health insurance you are going to care about how much you have to spend on your health, so you're going to care about how healthy you are.

I think the Supreme Court sees it as humans need food, water and medical care to exist, so health care is a necessity for human survival so the government can make you buy it. That's my take on it.

so you're unaware that insurance premiums will be capped because of this law?
and that the only "profit" being made will by the stockholders of private insurance companies?
and how will taking the responsibility of healthcare OFF small businesses hurt them financially?
