It's 90% about the money. A primary care physician makes $250,000 a year and an orthopedic surgeon makes $750,000 a year. Reduce the fees paid to specialists and increase the fees paid to primary care physicians. The whole concept of a doctor shortage and a future limit to access to care is a farce. We have tons of doctors.

Let's see. Should I spend years and expense to become a doctor, or should I get a quicker, cheaper MBA degree to become an overpaid doctor's boss in the insurance industry. Or I could join the more lucrative pharmaceutical industry or go into the hospital business. Doctors work the hardest with the greatest responsibility liability for pay and other terms dictated by the insurance industry, whose only skill is manipulating other people and, of course, their money.
