Some times due to the negligence in the service by a doctor can lead to severe injury or even death to the patient. In such cases if your malpractice has been proved in the court one should pay huge amount for compensation to the loss.
There are also health care workers who have been slapped with a malpractice case due to safety incidents - or lack thereof. Cases of malpractice are increasing every year which makes this the third top cause of mortality in the hospital.
Due to this there is a possibility of losing one's job which is a black mark in their profession.
So, being backed up by some sort of insurance does give one assurance that everything will be taken care of.
