Hello
I was wondering to ask about an issue. Since 6-7 days ago I am suffering from a moderate, dull headache. It applies in both sides of my head, starts in the back of the head and then pain spreads all over.Inicially I thought it would be just any random headache from different reasons, but since it has now entered its 8-th day,I have started to worry. Although the pain is moderate, its very monotone and boring. I have twice taken paracetamol, but to no avail. Anyone has any idea what the problem might be and how can be rectified? Thanks in advance for your time! |

Thats sounds alot like what i'm experiencing, although i've had them for a couple of weeks, recently ive been getting earache in both ears and a bit of pain when i swallow. I actually have one short sighted and one long sighted eye which i originally thought was causing the problem but my glasses are not helping. Is your pain mostly in your temples and at the back of the head going down towards the neck? And does it get worse towards the end of the day? I am off to the doc's tonight so hopefully it will be resolved, i'll let you know what he says. |

I have been getting headaches almost everyday, and I thought it might be because I need a new eye prescription, mainly because I have not gotten an eye exam for 2 years. So I got the new prescription, and it has been almost 2 months now, and still with the headaches.
I have been taking an anti-depressant as well, but I am unsure if that is the cause. Also, my nose is always stuffed, and I have allergies. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Any other clues? |

I have been suffering from an extreme headache that makes my head feel heavy and my neck hurt. My temples at certain times feel like they are going to explode. My head hurts all over not on any particular side. I received sinus surgery hoping that this would help. No luck. This headache which has not went away started over 1 1/2 years ago. It has not went away. I have learned to cope with it for the most part, but at times I think my memory is being affected. I have been on all kinds of meds over the counter and prescribed please help it is affecting my performance in school, and in life. I will take any suggestions.

10 days ago I came down with H1N1. Caught it from daughter who caught it from little girl that came to play 2 weeks ago. Pediatrition simply stated my daughter had flu. Called back later to nurse to pursue what kind of flu (Type A ahe said). Have had a headache for days and days. Did not notice it so much when I was in throes of initial symptoms of flu. Aspirin, etc. does not help in the least.
Wondering if this is the normal aftermath of H1N1, or just a secondary sinus infection, etc. |

---I have the exact same thing. I'm wondering what you found out! Thanks. |

That sounds very similar to what I've been going through. I've had this constant, throbbing headache since 7th/8th grade, and I'm now a senior in high school and the pain has never gone away. Most days it's at a level where I can ignore it and functionally pretty normally, but sometimes it gets so bad. I've been to many doctors and have had lots of different tests, and everything comes back normal. So the docotrs just ruled it off as migraines. But do migraines normally last several years non-stop? It just gets to be so much sometimes. I can't focus or concentrate. Getting through school and daily activities is so hard. Does anyone have any advice? |

I had a headache for about a month last year, and was so concerned I got an MRI and eye exams. Everything came back fine, and it finally went away. I coincidentally was getting a massage right about when the headache was going away, and the masseuse noticed that my sterno-claido mastoid muscle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sternocleidomast... ) was *really* tight. And as it turns out, the trigger point for this muscle has referred pain that goes over the eye and around the ear on that side, and can go into the middle of the head and cause headaches. This is exactly where my headache was (biased towards one side of my head). And, by the way, my headache had started after a night of hard training in martial arts taking hard falls (and I hadn't been training so was out of shape), so I'm pretty sure now that I tweaked my sterno claido mastoid on one side (I tend to take falls on only one side) and hence this was the cause of my headache. I think the tweak in the muscle/tendons just healed on its own after a month, but the masseuse said that int he future I should massage it regularly anyways since mine is so tight.
Go to about 1:45 of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch... and you'll see him talk about the referral points and how an affected trigger point in this muscle can cause headaches. There's also a good diagram that shows the referred pain (red spots) from a tight sterno-claido mastoid muscle in this link: http://massagetherapy.careerpathblog.com/ster... Not sure if this is your problem, but it's certainly worth looking into if everything is okay with your brain (via MRI) and eyes (via comprehensive eye exam). |
