Fish oil was one of my triggers for gout. I find many conflicting dos and donts regarding foods and vitamins. It's all trial and error for what triggers you.
Most fish oil, even the highest quality is made from anchovies.(Ask me how I know)
Take salmon oil or Krill oil and always find out if anchovies are used. Anchovies can cause flare ups.

Also a bit of medium heat from a heating pad helps to ease with the Vicadin too. Do not eat pinto beans it is a killer for gout. Got me 2 xs already. rest and stay off feet much as you can. Good luck
I have never had gout in my life. Love pinto beans but never have been able to eat them because they made me gasy. My husband and I recently found a way to cook pinto beans without causing gas. I am thin, don't eat red meat and rarely eat fish. I have had pinto beans every day for over a week and a half and last night started having this terrible pain in my left knuckle joint by index finger, swollen, red and very hot. Only thing I have done different is have eaten a lot of pinto beans so after reading your post convinced it is the pinto beans. Tonight I did a ginger root tea soak and it immediately took a lot of the swelling down and redness and almost all of the pain. I plan on going to see my acupuncture doctor tomorrow and I'm sure it will be gone, but afraid to eat pinto beans again. Feel bad because they are good fiber and good protein.

I have suffered for over 25 years from gout. All the Doctors, all the meds, all the pain. I realize there are many causes for this condition, but after stopping taking over the counter vitamins last year, my symptoms have nearly disappeared. I go months without even a quiver, no toes, ankles, wrists, NO PAIN! My Chiropractor explained to me that most vitamin companies use a "natural source" for calcium: Coral. Since my sensetivity to shellfish is quite high,I stopped eat any shellfish years ago but have always taken vitamins. This has been my salvation.
I am the same..within days of stopping multivitamins...gout gone

I just wanted to share that Sugar has been a major trigger for me for inflammation in general but also in triggering a gout attack. Some other factors for me is too much protein combined with too much sodium/ dehydration. Another interesting thing I notice is that my digestion always feels somewhat backed up when I flare up as well. Food for though.......

Randy, be sure to not take any vitamin supplements. Molybdenum for example can cause gout like symptoms. I stopped my daily multi vit and had no gout issues. I started taking it again and had a gout flare up in a matter of days.

I found a product the promotes gut health that really helps with gout. Is a plant-based supplement that kills the bad yeast bacteria in your gut. So many food crate problems with gout, it was an AH HA moment for me. Google gut health and gout, it's eye opening. If you would like I can send you some information.

What I find frustrating is the conflicting info on what to eat and what to avoid. Outside of avoiding a few basics like organ and red meats and beer- foods high in purines, you see different lists telling you NOT to eat certain foods that other lists say are OK. It seems that what folks on this site are saying is true: the triggers are individualized.
