I get occassional bouts of gout - usually 5 or 6 months appart. I am not on any preventative medication (yet!) but I am trying to find out what triggers it. I would like to know from people who have discovered things that trigger their gout and HOW LONG it can take BETWEEN the trigger AND HAVING THE ATTACK. For example, I have suspected prawns as a trigger for mine (I don't eat them that often but thinking back I have consumed them on previous occassions before a gout attack) but I don't know if it would be 24hrs or a week to have an effect. Any relevant info would be useful. Thanks

I had frequest bouts of gout that were terrible. I read that asparagus could be a trigger and after thinking back, it seemed to go along with my eating asparagus. I eliminated it from my diet and have been gout free for four years!!
