I had acid reflux for 11 years!!!! I tried everything : pills, osteopathy, acupuncture, total diet change, orange zest pills, homeopathy.....and finally I went to a chinese doctor in a clinic in san francisco. She cured me in less than 10 days!!!my gastroenterologist constantly recommended surgery.
I suffered for so long!!! It was awful...
I recommend to anyone to go to a good chinese herbalist. They will cure you!

Umm....Herbs can be extrememly dangerous, actually. For instance , even echinacia can be bad if you are a transplant patient taking immune supressant drugs.
I would not recommend just carte blanche take herbs. Best to consult your physician first. Here is a link that discussed GERD http://rdoctor.com/symptoms_disease/content/v... |

I had acid reflux for 9 years and was recently cured of it.
First, have blood work done to make sure that you do not have H-pylori. My blood work came back negative. Second, find out if you Candida. It turned out that I had Candida and didn't know it. It took several weeks before I could officially quit my Prevacid medication. Go on a complete sugar free diet (no alcohol). Eat 5-6 meals a day and make sure that they are small meals. They are to be high in protein and low in carbs. Do the diet for two weeks and try coming off your meds. You might find that you are OK for several days and then the burn returns. Go back on the meds but only for a couple days as you continue the diet. You keep doing this until you can quit the meds completely. There are prescription medicines for Candida such as Diflucan or Nystatin. I used Garlitrin 4000, GSE, Oregano Oil, and every night before bed I would have a glass of water mixed with Aloe Vera Juice. I also take and still do my Theralac Probiotic and it does work. I did the healthy alternative for several weeks before stop taking most of them. I hate Oregano Oil. GSE doesn't taste good either. This worked for me and has worked for others. If it does improve your digestion 80 to 90% then see a doctor to kill off the rest of the Candida. He will request a stool sample first. Don't drink water with meals at first. Be careful with dry chicken in the beginning as that seems to irritate the stomach for some reason. |

Sorry, but I need to inform you that fruits are off the diet for 3 weeks. You can't eat any fruits at all for 3 weeks and then slowly re-introduce them after the 3 weeks to see what happens. Beware of eating potatoes, carrots, rice, breads and other starchy foods. Eliminate them for a while. If you just have to have a pizza then eat only the cheese and ask for light sauce because of the sugar in sauce.
When bringing back fruits into your diet then eat the good kinds like: blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. Be careful of any fruit that is high in sugar and low in fiber such as bananas. Bananas are praised for its high potassium content but if you were to eat an avocado then you will have nearly 3 times more potassium than that of a banana. Candida lives off of sugar and that is why you must quit eating it for a while. Your diet alone will not kill Candida but it should eliminate the symptoms of it. Because of that, if you were ever to return to your former diet then you will experience the GERD once again possibly. You can do natural means of killing the Candida or prescription ways. My doctor was dumbfounded when he asked me if I needed a refill for Prevacid and I told him, "No, I cured myself of that." I told him that once I had him rule out H-Pylori then I was pretty certain that it was Candida because I had many symptoms of it. The answer was really quite different from the BS that he dished out to me a long time back. The BS of the stomach producing too much acid or the door of my stomach is opening up and not closing. How it might be gastritis and that the lining of my stomach is irritated. A typical doctor that listens to drug companies only to make money. I fired his ass after my last visit. He never once checked me to see if there were some underlining cause of my GERD. He would have left me on Prevacid the rest of my life. Your digestion will improve on this diet because when you go on a high protein/low carb diet then you will not be mixing meat and potatoes. Yogurt with some type of meat. Eggs with toast and so on. You stomach handles similar foods better and you will find that out. A great book to get at Amazon.com is by Dr. Sherry A. Rogers on Cure the Heartburn. Get this book as she offers great advice on what to do. p.s. Manuka honey did nothing for my GERD. Matula tea did nothing for my GERD. DGL licorice root didn't seem to help either. Mastic gum didn't work either. Eating soft foods didn't work. Fasting for 24 hours drinking only Coconut water didn't work either (I did feel better though physically for about a day). There are a bunch of wacky claims out there so be careful. Be careful of any website that a person claims to have been cured of Acid Reflux and wants money to tell you their so-called stunning finding. I paid for a few and found them to be nuts stealing money. I am sure that anyone like me that truly has been cured of it will want to tell anyone else for free and I am trying to get the message out there. Long term use of Prilosec or Prevacid is now being discovered to cause some serious health issues (liver death is one of them). Get off the crap. If you have H-Pylori and are taking acid reducers then you are feeding the H-Pylori and basically guaranteeing that you will have stomach cancer some day. H-Pylori doesn't like stomach acid and taking acid reducers is exactly what the bug wants. Mention that to your doctor and I guarantee that he will not argue with you. Also, make him test you for H-Pylori and Candida. |

I thought Candida was only for people whose immune systems were suppressed or dysfunctional. So you are heartburn-free now that you have gotten rid of Candida infection? I might test myself for Candida overgrowth because I have had heartburn since I was a kid.

the best thing I have found for reflux is plain old apple cider vinegar. mix with water. what a relief! and cheap!
|
|
When you have some time, please type in Candida and GERD in a search engine and you will be able to read it for yourself about how they relate. The test for Candida is disgusting (stool sample). Try the low carb diet that eliminates all sugars and starches. You will see noticeable improvements very quickly. Dave |

p.s. Apple cider vinegar did not work for me. I do know of others that swear by it so I am not knocking it. I was practically drinking the entire bottle because the pain kept returning constantly. The big diet change was what caused the cure and nothing else.

I believe that curing yourself of Candida works. I want to do it for other health reasons, but haven't gotten that far yet because it requires a little planning and work. That was the next step for me in trying to get rid of GERD. However, I read the book "Why Stomach Acid is Good for You" and got off Nexium immediately...that stuff is scary! The book claims that the issue is too little acid production and the remedy is supplementing the acid with Betaine HCL caps. Sounds crazy...and the idea even scared me, but I had nothing to lose. I was really miserable and taking a twice daily mega dose of Nexium to no avail. First day I took the HCL caps, it worked so well that I haven't taken Nexium since...and I was having acid symptoms 24hours a day. So now I take the HCL caps with each meal and I don't have any GERD symptoms.

Here are some natural cure for acid reflux:
Meadowsweet, fennel, chamomile, slippery elm, catnip, cancer bush, angelica root, ginger root, gentian root, aloe and more other botanicals. The slippery elms were historically used by the natives to cure their diarrhea, heartburn, stomach upset, constipation and other forms of digestive annoyances. Ginger roots and fennel were folk remedies too, used for indigestion relief. Contemporary herbalists discovered that this plethora of herbs that were primarily used for indigestions might be cogent for an acid reflux. However, changes in the eating habits or lifestyle accomplish a long-term remedy. source: http://www.acid-reflux-faqs.com/ |

See what I don't understand is how we are not suppose to have sugar in our diet for a while yet if I don't eat some sort of sugar, when I wake up I get so dizzy! I also can't afford medicine for my GERD and I'm only 23 and this crap just sucks. I Have awful anxiety and phobias that I never had before and the ER doctors don't help at all. They seriously have no clue wtf they are talking about. I wish I knew how to stop feeling so damn dizzy when I wake up :(

I had GERD for about a year after the H pylory has been eradicated. Tried nexium, helped a little but if you stop it was getting worse.
Tried this and that, eventually got rid of it for good drinking cold camomile tea- that simple, after hundreds of bucks for soo overrated nexium. |
