Out of work for 9 months. Luckily, I got 2 months of samples and 6 month prescription for my meds. Target has a plan (sans insurance) for 3 month prescriptions for only $10. I have not had a Mammogram in a year, nor a pap smear. Have some money put aside, just in case. I cannot afford to hav a decent health plan. It would cost about $550 a month. And these bare to the bones policy (which covers hospitalization) do not cover when you go to the Doctor, so in the long run, if you need to get a check up, it is still less expensive to pay out of pocket then the monthly premiums. You have to talk to your Doctor and negotiate the cost. Be honest and usually they will work with you to some extent.

Anyone realize we have a third rate health care system yet? Very, very long on talk and very, very short on performance.
