This is interesting, does your sister take any medication to control her seizures?I've been on dilantin for over 13 years myself & it seems to be working....looks like I've gotta start eating more fish myself if this truely seems to help.

Well, I'm not going to go off my Topamax, but I had started taking this earlier this week because I had heard that it could help improve other brain functions, so this would be a definite plus, too. :-)

Fish oil has DHA (Omega 3 fatty acid). Flax seed oil also has it. Here's an article on the relationship betwen DHA and epilepsy:

Thank you for the link Bernard. I think I might just sign up for the forums there.

I have a friend who I met on this forum in another thread & communicate with her via email & instant message from time to time so I'll send her the link & see if she's interested in signing up as well.

My son is 19. After an year and half of his first seizure and with no medication for 14 months, he had a seizure. Then the hospital NEVER administered medication to prevent him from having any more. So, he had two more and finally 14 hours later, he had medicine...KEPPRA. THIS IS AN BAD drug. I am researching a natural remedy by Native Remedies, called EPI-STILL.(MY dtr. uses Mind smoothe and Calm for her anxiety since June and has had 100% results...) so, my belief in their products are quite high. A am looking for responses to anyone that has been using EPI-STILL instead of anti seizure or with very low dosages of anti seizure medication. MY son wants to take supplements, the EPI-STILL and modify his diet a little, plus a very low dose of anti seizure for 6 months then stay only on the other approaches. DOES ANYONE have any feedback?

I met someone who has a (now)12 year old daughter who took a natural treatment that worked for her and also someone she knows. Here is her email (copied and pasted) that she sent out. Contact me for more info....

I want to wish you all a very merry Christmas! As I look back over the past year, I am overwhelmed with how wonderful God has been to me and my family. To have the health of my daughter Sydney is priceless. She is a happy 11 (almost 12!) year old girl who is loving life. It is amazing how much she appreciates feeling good. Tomorrow morning she will wake up, enjoy seeing the presents under the tree and have a wonderful day full of laughs and love. She will be thankful for a loving God and that Jesus was sent to earth for us. Last year, she sat in my lap, crying, much of the day. I am so grateful.
We, as humans, have the chance to participate in the miracle process. My friend Danielle did that for us by sharing this product. We can do the same. I look forward to a great year with all of you, changing lives through an amazing product and with a group of amazing people.
We do have a couple of meetings this week!
God Bless,
Sarah

contact me and I'll send you information if you are interested. I can put you in contact with Sarah and her daughter and even their neurologist, if you want proof.

My email is agmacdonald@hotmail.com
Merry Christmas to everyone!

Interesting topic. I've had Myoclonic seizues for 20 years. You know, just the jerky kind. I started taking Omega 3-6-9 fish oil twice a day and felt like it was helping. I, for some reasone, got a little slack and forgot to take it for about a week. I HAD A GRAND MAL SEIZURE. Don't know if it had anything to do with it but I have thought a great deal about it and then I ran across this topic. Could be something to it...it is supposed to be rain and nerve food. I believe it! I'm taking it again every day twice a day.

my son is 3 years old and has recently been having grand mal seizure. I haven't tried the fish oil yet but i will. But i wanted to know will it affect the medication that he's already on. And how will i know that the fish oil is working and not the medication doing the job. He has had 2 grand mal seizure since starting the medication.
