samantha (or anyone else) are you going to try ovulation prediction kits now? i went out and bought a pack of 20, it said to start them the day after my period ends. has anyone else tried taking OPKs after their lupron shots? and if so, how soon did u get results back that you were ovulating? i know a period and ovulation do not go hand in hand, so i was curious to now know the time line between the first period and ovulation. of course, i will be back to write about my first positive LH surge :)

Stephanie,
YES!!!! I am a success story of Lupron!!! I have a wonderful 4 year old little boy who I would not have been able to have without Lupron. I only have one half of one ovary left due to endo and and cysts, but after taking Lupron I still was able to conceive. You may get pregnant while still coming off the Lupron as well. I did. My son was born a month early at 7lbs 8oz and lungs were fully developed. So the one little period I got after coming off Lupron we believe now was really the implanation bleed from the pregnancy. I am on my third round of Lupron. This time to try and conceive again. I just got off and am way ready to start trying again. Best of Luck to you!!!! I know it works!!
Carrie,

You made me feel a little better, I had surgery for my endo in Nov 2010 and went on the Lupron I had my last shot on April 12th 2011. I am waiting to get my period, which I keep getting the cramping and my stomach is so bloated I feel like I am going to explode. I even took a pregnancy test just to see if that was it of course it was negative. I have two teenagers and the only way I got those two is because I was on BC. Now I am hoping this will help. Not to sound dumb but what were the side effects of being pregnant from the Lupron or period? I am so tired of trying to get pregnant and really am wanting another baby so disapointed when I get a negative on the pregnancy tests. My Dr isn't really any help he acutally sounds upset that I am wanting another baby. I am 36 and want to have one before I am 38, so I really hope I get to have a happy ending like you did. Thanks again for giving me some kind of hope.

I had started my Lupron shot for endo in Novemeber 2010 after the surgery and had my last shot on April 12th 0f 2011. I have not gotten my period yet and feel like my period should come any time with the cramping and bloating. I am 36 my husband and I are trying to concieve. I really want to have a baby before I am 38. The only way I had my other two which are teenagers now is b/c I was on birth control. I am getting so depressed and stressed out, my Dr didn't tell me anything about what happens after the Lupron shot like I have read from all of you it takes 3-6 months. My nurse told me to take a pregnancy test on Thursday just to see if maybe I am pregnant and then we will go from there. I doubt I am pregnant and really do not want to see a negative test. Please somebody give me some more info since my Dr seems to think I am waste of his time if he can't take out my ovaries and uterus. Also white discharge has been coming out of me like I may be ovulating instead of the clear discharge when I was going through the shots every month. Is that a good thing?

Hello everyone,
Well lets start off my story.. Im 23 years old and have always had a history of heavy and very painful periods. In Sept of 09 I had so much pain that my knees felt like the were going to buckle underneath me and fighting with my OBGYN for a week before they took me serious enough to do an ultrasound. I had the ultrasound and they found a mass the size of an orange. They decided to do the laprascopic surgery in sept. Thats when I found out I had endo. The doctor told me it was very little and that it should help with no problem. The side effects were not explained to me and I went through hell I would call the OB and they treated me like a pest and I got tired well in dec I started bleeding and i bled for 3 1/2 months and they didnt do anything just handed me birth control told me everything was fine.(later to find out patients who have a lot of bleeding the lupron can be less affective) Feb 8th was my second shot and Then i got really sick I was able to hold food down, Hiccups all the time and no one paid attention and just said it was the side effects of the lupron and finally I got tired of losing weight and feeling terrible and I saw a GI doctors I had a Scope down both color and throat to find out that i had a redundant colon that could be linked to the endo. When I called the doctor to find out if it could be he told me he really didnt check that area to know if it has went that far. Now its jun 11. I cramped unbelievably for a week and finally I couldnt handle it called my OBGYN and all they did was give me norco (mind you the last time I had an er trip with a large amount of fluid in my uterus they told me they couldnt help me anymore) So they gave me the meds and kinda pushed me away. This past wensday I started to bleed and Im bleeding just as heavy before the surgeries and lupron where I lose color and everyone I work with ask me if Im ok (I work in a hospital.) or I just have no energy I stayed in bed all day today because i wasnt strong enough to function and be a normal 23 year old. I dont know what to do anymore and Im kinda looking for advice to see where i should go should I look into a second opinion because after going through 6 months of pure hell on lupron I feel no better.. My OBGYN now treats me as a pest and when i do call you can hear the annoyance in their voice. they pass me off as a drug seeker one of the went as far as not checking me out and just handing me a script for norco and not even examing me. that was before all of this. Im lost and I dont know what to do at this point im just looking for advice

I had a very similar story to yours, it took my doctors over a year and a half to figure out what was going on and why i felt so awful all the time. i wrote out my story but its too long to put on here, i could email it if you want. basically the drs told me that i had an eating disorder (because i too couldnt eat, even if i was hungry, id throw it all up) i had the endoscopy, and a colonoscopy, CT scans, MRIs, barium swallows, a camera out into my nose and down my throat, etc. because I kept havign 'stomach issues' well, then i had a period for 3 months and my dr did a vaginal ultrasound and saw i had 3 large cysts. they tried the birth control but it didnt work, so they did a laparoscopy surgery to remove the cysts. in the meantime a different dr basically told me i still had an eating disorder and put me on psych drugs which made me -literally- crazy, my husband found me on the couch in the middle of the night rocking myself back and forth staring at a wall and wouldnt acknowledge him when he came over to see if i was ok. so after i finally got the "right" medication and it stopped my panic attacks, etc, i did a follow up ultra sound and all my cysts had grown back, hence the starting of the lupron.

if i were you, i would def. get a 2nd opinion. i was so desperate, i had my husband drive me 6 hours to Sansum clinic (its supposed to be the top medical research and treatment facility in CA) and they still couldnt find out what was wrong with me. the dr sent my husband out of the room to ask me if i was being abused by him. i was so mad. what a waste. i finally found an OB/GYN in my town who helped me. i also work in a medical building here in my small town, and i am a nurse, so basically they werent going to convince me that something wasnt ok. you know when somethings not right with your body, so continue to pursue that. if i wouldnt have pursued for as long as i did, i wouldnt be finally feeling well today.

the hormones built up so much in my body that my hair started falling out in big clumps, where i thought i was going to have to wear a wig. thats when i kept insisting that it "wasnt all in my head".... i saw over 10 doctors during all of this, and only on my 11th opinion did i get my answer. so def. dont give up after your first try!

good luck!

my last shot was march 4th, i started my period may 31st.

since your last shot was april 12th, the shots last for 1 month, so the meds should be out of your system by may 12th. now start the 3-6 month time line. it takes 3-6 months AFTER the medication leaves your body.... so your range should be aug-oct.

of course, the 3-6 month is the AVERAGE and my doctor told me that some people start before this (i stared after 2 months, or 3 months since the last day of my injection) and some people start after 6 months.

i also started to "feel" like i was going to have a period, with the cramps and discharge, i started breaking out, mood swings, and so i was just waiting for it. hopefully since you are experiencing these symptoms or "feel like" you should be starting soon, its your bodys way of telling you that you are :)

remember also the power of the mind: keep telling your body that you WILL have your period and you WILL start ovulating. Theres nothing wrong with a little positive reinforcement. The mind can do great things.

Good luck and let us know!

I started lupron when I was in the 8th grade right after I had surgery for endo. I was on the shot for 6 years, and finally at the age of 20 requested to go off of it. I have been off the shot for about 4 months and haven't had any signs of getting my period. My Dr told me to start birth control right away after going off the shot, and it is often common to not get a period while on the birth control pill. I am how ever very nervous because I would really like to get a period.
Has anyone heard of someone being on the lupron shot for 5-6 years?
If anyone has any advice for me it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks*

Update: I started my period almost 3 months to the day from having the Lupron.. But something wasn't right the pain and the gloating and tiredness I got worried and than the pain has gotten so Bad I was puking we went to the er and they did an ultrasound and found another large complex cyst on the right side.. Also my left ovary is behind my uterus. I'm frustrated because even though I did the Lupron nothing is getting better.

Hey, I am on the Lupron shot for endo and uterine fibroids. I have had endo for 7 years. I have had 8 laps done and everytime my endo gets worse, my last lap was in April and at best the pain was gone for 5 days. Everytime I go in for another lap the endo gets worse and now this time there were fibroids. I have been on Lupron for 4 months(monthly inj), my periods haven't stopped once and the pain has only multiplied. I am about to have a superior hypogastric plexus block for the pain through a pain clinic I go to. My doctor is shocked that I haven't stopped having periods or pain, I am only 22 yrs old, and talk of a hysterectomy is on the table, which I def don't want, I would like to have children one day!! Plse if u have any advice as whatelse works plse help me I'm desperate!! Thnx

I had my tubes reversed and was on lupron due to microscopic endomitriosis. I was on lupron for 3 months I stop taking lupron because of the hot flashes I am currently doing Chinese herbs and I am feeling wonderful but no menstrual. How long before I get a menstrual?

should be 3-6 months after the medication leaves your body. mine started after 3 months, or 2 months after the shot was out of my system (my shot lasted 1 month each). that is the average. my dr said if i didnt have one after 6 months that i needed to notify him but it wouldnt have been abnormal to go 6 months without a cycle.

Ryansgirl.....Oh my gosh!!! That is so awesome!!!!! Just got AF so it didn't work last cycle for me :(..... I am doing the opk and I'm ovulating late( day 20-21) and my cycle is 34 days.... So hopefully better luck after my 2 period from Lupron! But so happy for you!! Best of luck... Such great news!!:)
..... All of you other ladies waiting to get your period.. I got mine back around 3-4 months after Lupron... I was on the shot (monthly) for about 2 years.. I never had my period on the shot.. The shot was great for me.. Really helped! The waiting for the period was scary. I thought I was never going to get my cycle again and I want to start a family so it was very frustrating.. They put me on BC and clomid and still no period. I took my body off of all meds ( bc & then clomid) then my period came all on it's own!! So I say just let your body be and it will come.. Your periods will be painful again but I'm just happy to have it again..best of luck ladies!:)

I tried the OPKs and kept thinking "why arent these things working? i'm never buying them again" but i guess now i know why!!! you cant ovulate after you conceive so i was basically peeing on a stick for no reason the whole rest of the month lol!

i am so excited & scared at the same time. its my first ever pregnancy. but i got to see the ultrasound of the amniotic sac so that was exciting. i started getting sick/nauseated on my vacation almost right away. i thought it was food poisoning or travel lag from flying from CA to FL. Just so happens I brought back more than just some souvenirs from my trip :)

thank you all for your good wishes, i will of course keep you updated and you all of course do the same! good luck to all my fellow friends and happy 4th!

I am 40 yrs old, and my husband just turned 46 today. we have been married 5 yrs now and tring to have my first child. Recieved my 3 month lupron shot JAN 26, 11 and still have no period. this is hard. I was suppose to have my first period in April, when the doctor cleaned out my tubes and left the fibroids which are very large. I just want to have my first child. It hurts so much, I can't stop crying. Does anyone have suggestions.
