I have suffered from the most severe form of eczema my whole life. I am now 30 years old. After my most recent flare up, I did what we all do when this happens and started madly googling possible ways to treat myself. This never actually works for me, it just makes the condition worse by not allowing me to focus on anything else. Anyway, my mother sent me a brief, vague post about research currently being done using biolic drugs (similar to what they use to treat arthritis) to treat atopic dermatitis. I googled. I was understandably skeptical. I have been part of studies before which led to a worsening of my skin in general.

Here's the thing: It's working. I am 70% better. It's a blind study, so I have no idea how much the dosage is. The other person in the study has shown prednisone-like results without the side effects. My doctor refers to the drug as "a game changer." They are conducting studies around the world. It is my duty to all eczema sufferers to share this information. Atopic dermatititis has adversly effected every aspect of my life for my entire life. The current working name of the drug is dupilumab. It is produced by Regeneron. Here is the clinical trial link:
http://clinicaltrials.gov/show/NCT01859988

I am currently participating in the trial at MGH in Boston. They need more people. If you are anywhere near driving distance, you should do it. If you need more info, post with an email address and I will do my best to respond.

I have probably seen 100 different specialists in my lifetime. Nothing but prednisone has ever produced these types of results for me.
