My name is Rachel, Iíve been struggling with eczema since I was a child and lately, Iíve been experiencing a flare-up on my face and neck. This is the first time this has ever happened. It started in March, and still hasn't gone away completely. I've seen my dermatologist twice, and he really couldn't do much to help me. Both times, he grabbed another dermatologist for a second opinion. First, he prescribed me with prednisone which worked, but it came back. The second time they wanted to do a patch test on me. Due to the fact that they didn't send me home with any medication but benedryl, I did A LOT of research online to see if I can find something that'll help me. I came across an article about a girl who had very severe eczema, she basically tried everything and nothing helped until she followed the advice of the third dermatologist she saw.
He told her to "SHOWER TWO TIMES A DAY, 20 MINUTES EACH FOR A WEEK IN LUKEWARM WATER."
Then, within 2-3 minutes after you get out of the shower, MOISTURIZE YOUR SKIN (I used vanicream which I found works best for my skin).
I tried it that very night, and the next day I saw a big improvement.
Because I saw such a big improvement, I cancelled my patch test.
As a part of the patch test, you're not able to shower so I didn't want to risk my skin going back to the way it was. Currently, my skin isn't completely healed, but is in the process of healing.
*Try the shower technique, and let me know how it works for you. Doesn't hurt to try, right?
With that being said, Iíve decided to do research on fish oil and whether or not it can help treat eczema for my project. Since eczema is an inflammation of the skin, fish oil has shown therapeutic benefits among those who have arthritis (inflammation of the joints).
If a few of you could help me by doing a little survey, that would be awesome! Thank you in advance ! ☺
