I have eczema all over but it is really bad on my fingers. It keeps me up all night b/c of the intense itching and therefore my scratching. Does anyone else have this problem with the itching? It is as if I will die if I don't scratch it and when I do it starts an intense frenzy of scratching all over until I am raw and oozing with liquid from my fingers. Anyone have this and know of a good medication?

This has helped my son> He has had Eczema for past 7.5 years and has been basically clear now for 10 months...We washed him in HEB ointment (apply before washing and wash it off with the water by rubbing it in the skin. Do not use any soap. After drying the body etc, we then applied the Xeroderm cream as a moisturiser for the dryness.
Then we applied the HEB + Dovate as a mixture which the pharmicist mixes for you. For bad areas of his skin we used Elecon ointment.
Eczema will always itch. What we did is wet wrap him. Using the HEB and Dovate mixture, we used small bandages and applied the oitment on the little bandages and placed it on the affected areas. We then used long bandages and wrapped it over the small ones so as not for him to scratch. This is quite costly but the reason for the small ones is so that the long ones don't get dirty also.
You have to continue this for a couple of weeks but you will see the results after a day or two. It has taken allot of patience, oitment and bandages but worked. Important to do at night especially because you scratch involuntary during the night. Stay away from tomato, pinaplle and all the acid stuff.

Thank you so much. Is the HEB prescribed by a Doctor? So, acidic foods can make eczema worse?

Yes...Most of the oitments are by Script...Yes...acid foods are the worst..my son when he was about 5 years old bit a cocktail tomato and the juice dripped on his hand...immediately he got a rash where the juice ran on his hand.

Peanuts, chips etc are all not good. There is a massive list of your favourite which you should refrain from. It is very diffycult but how do you tell a child he can't eat chips or sweets etc.

May I caution that this worked for my son and won't necessarily work for you...but the wrapping is important. What have you got to lose.

It took us years to get the right ointment treatment for him...What also happend is during the change of season, it is as if the eczema comes back but it is a natural thing if you have a flare up during the change of seasons. We discovered this over the years. Just treat it vigourously during this time. Apply the Elecon staraight instead of mixing. The generic for Elecon is Dovate oitment but we feel the Dovate does not have the same healing effect as the Elecon but it works and is cheaper.

It is my pleasure. My son has given us sleepness nights for a few years and caused a strain on our marriage. I basically know what you going through and would not wish this on my worst enemy.

Let me know when you have had the treatment for a few days how it is going.

Stay away from the grass as well. He onec went with the school on an outing and his le got so badly infected in the leg joint he could not stand. That would have cost him his leg because it was infected to the bone.

Actually-- in this type of situation you might find considerable relief with a deceptively simple solution. Of course, use products that work for you. But, in the evening before bed, lube up your hands with whatever moisturizer works for you--then cover them with a light, simple cotton glove. Not only will this help the moisurizer be more effective, but it will keep you from doing more harm by scratching while half asleep. Sounds silly---but sleep is so important and this is such an easy thing to try. Hope it helps.

I'm going to copy-paste a previous response in another eczema thread. I had the worst hand eczema I could imagine, but now I'm 100% healed, with ZERO recurrences and didn't buy a thing. No one helped me I figured this out on my own via desperation and the application of a little logic:

Copy-pasta follows:

Please do not listen to all these junk posts. Everyone is preying on your desperation to sell you stuff. I know the desperation, and how the promise of hope will make you try anything.

I am 36y/o who USED to have severe eczema all over my body. My family doctors were useless, a dermatologist was useless, an allergy specialist was useless. Creams, salves and pills were useless. My eczema was so bad on my hands that people were grossed out and would not shake my hands as they were bloody, oozing and weeping with angry red swollen skin.

I also had it all over my body, especially my cheeks, neck, elbows, back, wrists, hands, feet and the backs of my knees.

I am now 100% symptom free. I didn't need to buy anything or consult any specialist.(they were all useless). All I did was an elimination diet, where you cut out everything in your diet that could be a cause, and slowly add things back until you identify which items are causing your eczema. It was difficult and time consuming, but costs no money and needs nothing more than patience and thought. To make a long story short I found out that I was allergic to eggs and oranges.(The allergist scratch and pin prick tests did not find it). Once I stopped eating oranges and eggs, in 4 days I've been completely cured. I've now been eczema free for two years and my life has never been better.

If you want to try an elimination diet, it just means that for one week blocks, you need to simplify your diet to the bare minimum of the least allergic foods out there.(Google lists). Then slowly add 1 new food at a time, until your eczema comes back.

I stopped eating everything but water and vegetables like carrots, grapes and raisins, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, cucumbers, romaine lettuce and chick peas and turkey.(For two weeks) but the results were obvious after 5 days. Changing your diet is hard. No snacks, no eating out etc... But in 5 days I found my eczema cured. CURED! FREEDOM BABY! Then each week I would introduce 1 more item to my diet, based on what I wanted to eat. But only 1 at a time. Added chicken, bacon, sunflower seeds, nuts etcc...

I noticed fairly quickly that one I drank orange juice my eczema came back viciously. I stopped right away and it went away again. I then tried oranges and orangy things like mandarins, clementines lemon and limes.(Only limes are ok.)
Then I kept adding and when I got to eggs, I found the biggest strongest reaction. In one day I immediately reverted back to my worst ever. Giant itchy blisters that weep and bleed when you scratch, secondary infections, pain....all of it.

Cut out eggs (including hidden aggs) and I am cured and eat whatever else I want. My 35 years of pain and social stigma were cured by eliminating my weeked breakfast of eggs and OJ.(I kept the bacon).:D

I hope this helps some of you. Your causes may be different than mine, but good luck and give it a try. Costs nothing. I'm not selling anything unlike these parasites like Alkaline Ken and Dr. Snake oil. I just want you to get better, because I know what it is like to live with debilitating eczema.

Hi
I had eczema for a couple of years on my left hand; it also spread a little to my right hand, on my thumb etc…
It used to crack and bleed all the while, I went to the Doctors and a specialist and nothing I treated it with seemed to work. I looked at my diet and could still not figure it out….
Then, by accident I found out what it was and this might seem daft.
It was the shaving foam GEL I was using; I noticed I was getting a red mark on my neck as well. So I changed from Gel to foam and over a period of time ALL the eczema went. The reason it was on my left hand was because I am right handed and I was squirting the gel into my left hand and rubbing it into my palm to create lather.

Also try a product called Axhilirit Eczema Oil. Only available in shops in the Western Cape and by internet order, but is worth the trouble of obtaining it. Works within days and the itching is gone in seconds.

I would like to share a treatment which has helped my hand eczema - I am an adult in my 40's and have tried numerous treatments.

In the last year or so, I have taken a probiotic
called Bio Kult Candea which keeps the Candida fungus in the gut under control.I Soon after taking it, I have found my hand eczema improve about 90%. When I stop taking it, it tends to return. I'm pretty sure it is this product which has improved my hand eczema, which I have had since childhood.

I can't say that it will help you, but it's certainly worth a try. Just google the product - you can buy it online. I got mine from Amazon UK.

Best of luck.

I have hand excema- now what I am about to tell may go against doctor recommendation due to what you need to do in order to apply.

When your excema is in blister form break the skin- squeeze some fluid out. Now go get FRESH garlic break it with your fingers and rub the inside on your open wound.

I was using a topical cream- it just did not help- it would alleviate a bit but that was it. STOP TAKING THESE CREAMS! They are horrible for your body.

Now the process I just describe I resorted to because I had stopped using the cream altogether and my blisters had started to become very deep.

Each application of the garlic on an open wound COMPLETELY CLEARED the excema in that area- no cracked or itch.

Now I dont know how well this would work as long as you are using a cream regimen because garlic isnt intrusive [by that I mean if you dont break the skin the garlic cannot help the wound so if the wound is full of a cream or something I doubt the garlic can effect it]. So I would suggest to stop using your cream for a while before. If someone tries this right away with cream in their system and it works please correct me on this.

I need to clear up the breaking of the skin- I am not talking about just popping the blister I mean remove the skin over the affected area completely. This skin your removing should NOT cause any pain and definately no bleeding- If your not comfortable with this I would suggest to find someone who is because it may need accuracy depending on the deepness.

If anyone out there has discovered this please confirm what I had said because those creams are terrible. If you try this please post on other forums about the results because again creams are terrible.
