Can anyone give advice on whether I should have my excema examined again? I am 47 years of age and have had it since I was 22. It came out of nowhere at 22 only thing I could think of was it came when I was in a job I hated and was due to get married.
It has got really bad last couple of years and more so since have night sweats with post menopause. When I wake hot about 5 times a night my skin is just ripped off with my nails as I am so hot and then itchy.
My Daughter brought to my attention Betnovate and its long term use although my GP does does me a repeat prescription no questions asked. I have it bad on calfs, behind underarms at the back, terrible stomach, neck and bits on right hand and other places. I dont put much Betnovate on. Is there another cream or something as I havent consulted my gp about this in over 20 years.
I was sent to hospital at 24 and was given Betnovate and something like Graniodine (probs. not spelt right) which isnt made now.
Should my GP be re assessing me?
How can I do anything about the stress to stop itching as I do think this is a cause of excema in me? It is worse at night and when biking.
Thanks for reading,
Robin.

Hi robin I too have quite severe eczema. What has worked for me is bathing in lukewarm water and moisturising my damp skin. Also try coconut oil on inflamed areas they stopped the itching for me. Also try a anti histamine before you go to bed to get a decent nights sleep and keep your finger nails cut short good luck x

Hi Rebecca,

I am sorry about your skin too. I will get some coconut oil as you say. We moved here three years ago so we only have a shower (previous person took bath out) but before here I used and miss using the bath milk I can't think of the name it is on prescription but turns the water white and is oily. That really helped.

I can't remember it being as bad as though although I do have horrible neighbours and feel stressed about that before I moved here it was really nearly gone.

Don't you hate it when you scratch and scratch and next day you have made it soooo sore but the feeling while itching is so good.

Do you use any products on prescription?

Thank you I know this condition is sometimes very depressing. I am currently 5 months pregnant and my eczema is everywhere on my back chest legs arms neck. I use epaderm cream but I am researching starting to eat more fruit and veg and drinking water. The bath milk I believe you are referring to is oilatum plus that helps with moisture. I am going to take flaxseed oil, zinc supplements probiotics and a digestive enzyme see how I get on and I'm trying my best to resist going to the doctors for a steriod prescription. Where in uk do you live?

Hi Rebecca,

I am from Hull. OIlutim thats it couldn't think of the name I used to put it in the bath and rub a bit on I must say the bath was a bit of a mess lol. I take flaxseed, and multivitamin. Did you have excema pre pregnancy?

I don't know anybody with excema and I don't think people understand how horrid it is. I can't imagine what nice clear skin must be like can you? I hope it clears up on my neck and arms before summer clothed weather.

Thank you I feel the same, yes I had eczema since I was a baby my mum took me hospital where they applied zinc bandages and it went away completely until the age of about 13. However since this pregnancy its become the most severe I believe due to my hormones and my lil man taking the nutrients from me to grow. I'm really looking into the causes of this and fingers crossed it will be gone for good in a month or two x good luck xx

Ezcema is not fun.. It is very uncomfortable feeling especially when u are itching all night..
My friend has a son that suffered at age 8 he tried All Tropical Creams,Steroids you name it until somebody introduce him to a great product available in the UK that is CLINICALLY proven to relief the suffering of it...

I just came across a product that is making my skin feel great. I do not suffer from eczema but I do have a couple of friends that have children that do and use this product and the eczema is cleared up. It is all natural and not expensive. You can order it on line and it will come straight to you. If you would like more information message me back.
