I personally use Red Hibiscus flowers externally for treating my eczema.

Some alternatives (or herbal) remedies for skin disorders include...

Calendula - contains anti-viral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties and stimulates white blood cell activity to help promote healing. Caution : External application only.

Gotu Kola - stimulates skin cell regeneration and in clinical trials has been proven useful in treating eczema, cuts, scrapes wounds and adverse skin conditions and in more recent studies has shown promise in combating the effects of leprosy.

Aloe - has been used since ancient times to treat many forms of skin irritations and ailments.

Evening Primrose - contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a compound which has been approved in great Britain for the treatment of eczema.

Borage - contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).

Avocado - contains vitamins A, D and E, all of which help promote healthy skin.

Chamomile - contains the fungicidal, anti-inflammatory and bactericidal compounds bisabolol, chamazulene and cyclic ethers. Chamomile may trigger allergic reactions in some people.

Cucumber - has long been used to treat dermatitis, skin burns and wrinkles.

Purslane - rich in carotenoids which have been shown to enhance the skin's health and regenerative abilities.

Wild Pansy - has long been used as a treatment for eczema, impetigo, itching and other skin disorders. Germany's Commission E approves wild pansy for treatment of skin disorders.

Witch Hazel - rich in astringent tannins, tones the skin's blood vessels thus enhancing blood flow. Commission E has endorsed the use of witch hazel for the treatment of dermatitis. Caution : External application only.

Carrot - rich in carotenoids which have been shown to enhance the skin's health and regenerative abilities.

Walnut - Commision E recommends the use of walnut leaves for the treatment of mild superficial skin inflammations.

Pineapple - well endowed with AHA's (Alpha-hydroxy acids) that dislodge dead and damaged skin cells.

Tamarind - contains AHA's (Alpha-hydroxy acids).

Apple - contains AHA's (Alpha-hydroxy acids).

Grapes - contains AHA's (Alpha-hydroxy acids).

Sour milk - contains AHA's (Alpha-hydroxy acids).

Currant - contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).

Hops - contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).

Poultices combining any or all of the listed herbs are recommended.

Yeah, you can use whatever chemicals and drugs you want to, but I don't trust Europeon Poisons.

Addendum : Additional Herbs to treat Eczema

Eczema can be treated quite nicely using herbal remedies... I used to have it covering my upper torso from mid-chest to chin and behind the knees.

I cleared mine up using an infused oil I made specifically to deal with mites, ticks, bee-stings, bug-bites, fungal and yeast infections, psoriasis and eczema... Yunno, Summer Woodsy Stuff.

Ingredients :

Hibiscus flowers
Tea-Tree Oil
Ground Black Walnut Hulls
Star Anise
Pennyroyal
Calendula flowers
Arnica flowers
Jewel weed
Cloves
Witch Hazel
Plantain
Gotu kola
Flax seed

Put all of the herbs in a dark bottle... fill it with olive oil and let it sit for 6 to 8 hours to start the mingling process or the "infusion" of the plant properties within the oil.

I must caution you though that Eczema operates like (and some say IS) a persistent fungal infection. I, personally believed to be caused primarily by the ingestion of contaminated, adulterated or otherwise non-nutritional foodstuffs (sugars, starches (junk-foods), dead animals and processed foodstuffs). So, to keep it away a slight change in diet might be desired.

Peace
