I have had facial eczema for 5 years now and Iím 20. I have tried every kind of treatment. Elidel/protopic never worked, PUVA light therapy would work for a day than it would come back twice as hard, Prednisone is a joke since I can only get small doses at a time, I tried diet changes and that never worked. I still use hydrocortisone steroids and they work for a while than it comes right back and I get to have spider veins that need to get burned off. I have a clean house; I have even moved to see if there was some kind of mold and no luck. Recently I took a kenalog shot in my butt and that was the most amazing thing ever. It worked for about 5 months than my eczema came back. Since the wait is 6 months for each shot, itís still better than nothing. I got another one recently, and itís only been 2 months now and it seems like its wearing off. I was counting on this lasting through the summer so I could enjoy me turning 21, but instead I want to roll over and die. I just stay at home making excuses for me not being able to work and I think I am going to have to quit even though I love my job. This is the worst thing that has ever happened to me. People keep trying these natural cures, but I have fallen for too many of those and they just fail over and over again.
Iím at the point where I donít care what I take, even meth, if it were too work, I would do it. I donít care if I lose 20 years of my life, itís better than living 20 extra in hell. Iím almost thinking of a way I can make my own kenalog injection and just taking it every few months. Itís my body; I should have the right to do what I want to it. There is no more hope. I simply cannot function like this and I think somethingís going to happen.
I just wanted to check to see if anyone here has taken the steroid injection and how long it lasted for them; any response would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have eczema and get celestone solus injections(similar to kenalog) 4 times a year (1 shot a week for 3 weeks straight - 4 times a year).
it clears me up and keeps me happy knowing that if i flare up again i know where to go.
NOTHING ELSE works. Just get the shots. they're worth it.
And most importantly, don't stress and think life is hopeless.
That makes it worse!
What state do you live in?

Had a kenelog shot for a pulled muscle on my shoulder and had TERRIBLE reactions. Thrush (that was worse than anything I have had lately) and anxiety attacks, then shortnes of breath, that was very bad. It has been about 5 weeks and I am alot better but not completely still having hot flashes and some breath shortness. How long will this last?? I am so discouraged!

Tim, I'm curious about your experience with Kenalog. I just got my first Kenalog injection on Friday for a full-out body rash of atopic dermatitis. So far, the rash has actually gotten WORSE. How soon after the Kenalog shot would you see improvement in your condition? I have MUCH compassion for you and your condition! There is simply nothing like having a rash that is both unsightly and uncomfortable. I wake at 2am wondering "How bad can it get?" I've tried positive visualization, diet change, and now may have to take Prednisone. My condition was brought on my a staph infection in May. I PRAY for relief for anyone who suffers from this condition.

its now september 24, and I had the kenelog shot in May, and about 3 or 4 weeks ago I started feeling more like myself. That shot ,they think, did something to my adrenal gland and caused many, many thing to happen. so be very careful and don't be surpised if you get anxiety, heart palpitaions, thrush etc. it was a very BAD!!! experience for me:(

I'm scared of anything the dr offers me because I always have side effects, when you read about the dangers that can happen to anyone, I would rather go natural. I had a kenalog shot but because I'm always weary I told the Dr give me 1/2 dose I'm so glad I did that because it has caused slight burning in my lungs. and just a strange feeling in my body. My friend is a dr said since it is a half dose almost child size it may last one month another dr said two maybe three weeks ! BE cautious always know what your getting and ask for half on get none take a allergy test to see if you can tolerate it, the bloodstream needs to remain as pure and clean as possible so if your ill it can strengthen your attack power and immunity! To the girl that doesn't care what it takes she has to have Kenalog I would seriously ride the long term effects you may not care today but when you suffering badly later you will most definately care

I have had Kenalog shots in both knees for over a year at three month intervals.
There have been no side effects except that I feel like a new person after being injected.

I have had kenelog shots in my knees,[bone on bone] every three months for six years. It is a wonder drug. It completly eliminates the pain in my knees for six to seven weeks. I have not had even one bad side effect in the six years. I don't know what these people are talking about? Maybe it should only be used for certain types of pain? I thought the drug was only for joint pain? I don't understand using it for all these other things, rashes??

kenalog injections are used for many things not just joint pain...such as auto immune disorders, skin rashes, eczema, psoriasis, arthritis (all kinds)....i just recently had an injection in my neck due to my muscles were so tight i couldn't function because of the pain. the second day i felt like i had been hit by a truck! and as the days went by i felt better...but i have been having night sweats and heavy heart beat, increased urination at night and dry mouth, also i feel very bloated in the abdominal area. i actually found myself overeating! it clicked in my head it was due to this injection so once i realized this i now control how i eat. i cant say i have even felt hungry since the injection, but i do eat..small snacks through the day. not sure how long this will last but its been just right at 2 weeks. i know this medication can effect the adrenal glands but im thinking it must effect the hypothalamus gland also.

I just came across a product that is making my skin feel great. I do not suffer from eczema but I do have a couple of friends that have children that do and use this product and the eczema is cleared up. It is all natural and not expensive. You can order it on line and it will come straight to you. If you would like more info message me back, I would love to help you.

The shot works wonders for me as well, but the only side effect is I gain a lot of weight. I typically only go for the shot when my eczema is REALLY bad and I cannot get rid of it. Normally its when I've scratched my arms raw and when they are healing, it itches even more and then gets in a nasty cycle. The shot will clear it up within days and normally it doesn't come back for a while.

I got a kenalog shot last week and have had horrible body cramps and charlie horses, esp. at night. I have had anxiety attacks, also. Took this hoping to help my allergies but think I'd rather put up with the allergies than these cramps and charlie horses. They are so painful and hard to get them to relax. I can't rest because of them.

I heard online about something called "Control Cream" by Mario Badescu. I first tried it about three years ago when the rash was particularly painful on my face. I found it at Nordstrom Cosmetics counter first, then at Ulta. I buy a jar of it about every two to four weeks; kinda pricey though - abt $32. each time, but it has helped me immensely to soothe the redness and irritation I get on my face and hands/arms. I have used it even on my eyelids and around my mouth. It helps to take that flakiness away as well. I suggest trying it on a small area that is irritated to see how it works.

The ingredient that seems to help is "balsam peru"...I've not had any problems w/ using this even though my skin is fairly sensitive.

I hope you can find some relief. I've had eczema since I was very young, so have tried countless prescription ointments, natural remedies and injections.

Best wishes.

Hello,
Just received a kenalog shot 10 days ago. My New docter literally talked me into it for allergy congestion. My other doctors were totally against it and I should have listened. The nurse asked me if I was allergic to this steriod and I said I don't know? Better start with a lower dose, but she gave me a large dose and said it was the adult dosage? I'm petite and 5'1. I don't believe a man of 6'0 and a woman of 5' are the same? Sorry. It did absolutely nothing for my congestion and alergies and in fact felt worse. Two days after this shot, I felt very ill with stomach pain and severe nausia. I thought I had eaten something bad but it continued along with constant dizziness and exhaustion, not to mention headaches everyday. I can't drive as I feel faint and have no appetite and have to force myself to eat, only to feel sick to my stomach once again. Have not worked out or gone out as I feel so bad. I was feeling perfect prior to shot and had some congestion but nothing like this. I advise all woman to ask for half the dosage at first as all these symtoms are listed as side effects and was told by two other doctors that this is a strong steriod for woman and my body is now rejecting it. The sad part is that it is now in my body for months and ruining my social life as well and day to day living. I hope it does not last as long as they claim. Be careful and honestly, allergy shots work much better.. Never again...

I just had an injection in my back. I have severe scoliosis and apparently dis something wrong and threw my back out. I have 3 children 9,6, and 3 months. So I can't be in horrible pain and not able to move. I had it 3 days ago and feel soooo much better. I'm terrified the pain will.com e back when the shot wears off. My baby had reflux (acid problem) and had eczema. It was suggested to me by the whole foods lady that I should take fatty acids because I'm nursing to help his eczema. And it has. Maybe look into that. I die read people with acid imbalances can have eczema.

I had a kenalog epidural shot in my L4. I now have pain I did not have. It did not help the pain I had. I am flushed all the time. In 2012 the FDA and the drug manufacturer said kenalog is not to be used in a epidural. There are numerous side effects. Had I known all the facts I would never have put this poison in my body.
