I have been taking Acidophilus for over a year and have not had any infected diverticula since. Do a research on "Acidophilus effect on diverticultis" as it states "can reduce the risk of diverticula becoming inflamed, including the use of a lactic acid producing bacteria called acidophilus."

I buy the expensive brand that needs to be kept in refrigerator. I take it daily.

It does keep the diverticula from becoming inflamed.

What brand do you use and how much do you take? How many organisms is it per capsule?

Acidophilus is a strain of probiotic. Your probiotic might have acidophilus in it. You can probably look at the back of the bottle or box to see what probiotics it contains.

Nature's Bounty 1 billion organism Acidophilus with Bifidum is what I take daily 2x a day. I get it at our local CVS. It has done wonders to keep the inflammation and infections away.
Most doctors will not tell you to take Acidophilus while on antibiotics. I guess it is because it would put them out of business. I do take it daily though.
