I understand the part about nuts and many granola cereals containing nuts.

But when I am not in a diverticulitis attack condition, is there a problem with granola WITHOUT nuts, i.e. the uncooked oatmeal ingredient?

Those new granola/nut packages CAUSED my problem. Well I may very well have had diverticulitis and I won't say I never had symptoms something like what happened to me yesterday when they got SO BAD I had to go to ER and get IV antibiotics (after CT scan), but I suspected those little balls of granola and nuts were upsetting my bowel because I had symptoms (slight but there), like gas and difficulty passing stool, BUT ate it anyway last week (as a "healthy" snack no less!) and BOY am I sorry NOW. If you have diverticulitis avoid granola completely and forget those granola bars and those little snack packages.

I also had my last attack caused by a "granola / nut" package. I am steering clear. There are lots of other things I can eat that won't send me to the hospital and put me out of whack for months.

I'm so sad to realize that my favs are a cause of my diverticulitis...I'm still learning what to eat and what not to eat..
