as i'm writing this i'm waiting to call my surgeon. it's been 5-6 months ago where i had my resection surgery for diverticulitis and for the past 2 days i've had blood in my stool.
not much, bright red, sometimes streaks of it on the side of the stool and always when i wipe. sometimes there are tiny splatters of bright red blood in the toilet as well. does anyone else have this and is it anything serious?
i also feel no pain, have no fever, no aches. if someone can give me some insight for post-surgery it would be great i can't seem to find any information about this on the internet anywhere and i've been searching for hours.

I haven't a clue and never heard of it happening - it could just be something as simple as an internal hemorrhoid, especially as it is bright red -but it is best to get any blood from the back passage checked out.

Hi Vic,
I have thus and it is bleeding hemorrhoids. As long as it is bright red and not dark brown purple or blackish it should be fine. The bright red is what gives it away. Any other color and it is from an internal bleeding source. It happens when you have hemorrhoids just inside or close to the end of the anus. They tend to tear or bleed whenever you have to pass anything with the slightest of pushing or difficulty. The only cure is surgical removal. Still inform your doctor so that they know you are concerned and they can check it out for you. Good luck.

You replied to an old post in this thread and probably won't receive an answer from whomever you replied to.

You might wanna post in a thread that's active every day. Here is the link:

My mother just had her second attack of diverticulitis, and has had a CT drainage both times. This second time, she came home the day the pulled the drain tube out and hours later, her second bowel movement had a tiny bit of blood in it. she is on antibiotics. is this common for anyone who has had this procedure?
