need antibiotics???

mild pain- sore to push on. feel over all yucky. no fever. gonna do liquid diet today. should I begin the bottle of augmentin I have ??? can you get through these mild atacks without an antibiotic?????

Hi Lori, I remember going through that thought process so many times... it's such a scary time when you are not sure. I used to go on clear liquids as soon as I felt the pain coming back and try to rest as much as possible to give my immune system a chance to fight back. Somtimes that worked but I was always afraid I would end up in emerg because the attacks came on so fast :-( I rarely had a fever with the attackes so I could not use that as a diagnostic tool, just the pain! As the years went by the pain was less and less during the attackes but I would have sausea and vomiting and sometimes I would pass out with waves of very low blood pressure and end up back in the hospital! You have my sympathy, this is such a stressful disease. Hope you can get through without the antibiotics but if the pain gets worse or you get a fever then you should consider taking them for sure!
