Diabetes and hypertension are two main reasons, why the black neighborhoods are filled up with dialysis clinics.

Both can be controlled.

Diabetes is not destiny - and unfortunately that myth has been perpetuated in the black community unlike any place else.

Exercise makes a tremendous impact on insulin sensitivity. With a low carb diet you can actually cure diabetes. Eating low carbs actually changes your sugar metabolism at the genetic level!

I've seen this with my husband who has many family members who are dealing with diabetes. So you'd think his risk is high. Because he is active and eats well he hasn't come close to even pre-diabetes.

Here's more good information on all the research out there about how you can reverse this disease with lifestyle choices:

A couple more helpful hints.

Aspartame (NutraSweet) is not good for diabetics. It can worsen some of the symptoms. Aspartame converts to methanol and formaldehyde in the body. That is wood alcohol (which is toxic) and embalming fluid. Aspartame can actually worsen obesity too, since it can jam up the metabolism.

MSG is another chemical that is not that good for diabetics and those who suffer hypertension. It can cause neurological symptoms, jam up the metabolism, increase obesity, and raise blood pressure.

There are people who claim that supplementing vitamin D can increase weight loss in some people, and controlling weight is always good for controlling type 2 diabetes. Often, if you can get the weight down, you can control it with diet alone.

A man suffered obesity and he changed his diet and increased exercise and it didn't work. He was about to give up when his doctor said to cut out the diet sodas and the Chinese food (or switch to MSG-free). He started losing weight.
