get of those drugs (fosamax, actonel, boniva, reclast) asap and switch over to the good old calcitonin nasal spray. A latest report showed that the calcitonin nasal spray is as effective as the bispohsphonates (fosamax, actonel, boniva, reclast) while having no serious side effects!

The study, commissioned by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Department of Health and Human Services, is entitled "The Comparative Effectiveness of Treatments to Prevent Fractures in Men and Women with Low Bone Density or Osteoporosis." The study was performed by the Southern California/RAND Evidence-based Practice Center to assist physicians, patients, private- and public-sector organizations in making informed decisions about pharmaceutical alternatives for osteoporosis and reviewed data for bisphosphonates, calcitonin, parathyroid hormone, estrogen, selective estrogen receptor modulators and testosterone.

The leading category of osteoporosis drugs is the bisphosphonates, with established efficacy in reducing fractures in osteoporosis patients. However, according to the report, not enough scientific evidence exists to establish whether bisphosphonates are better at preventing fractures than calcitonin, estrogen or raloxifene. Additionally, certain bisphosphonates have been associated with osteonecrosis. Separately, the FDA is currently conducting a safety review of all bisphosphonate products and their possible link to atrial fibrillation, an established risk factor for stroke.

Findings in the report cite evidence that calcitonin has also demonstrated a reduction in fracture risk among post-menopausal women as well as men. The global history of calcitonin products demonstrates an impressive safety profile, with products being administered to patients for more than 35 years with virtually no significant side effects.

Calcitonin is the active ingredient in Fortical(R), a nasal calcitonin product developed by Unigene and marketed by Upsher-Smith Laboratories.

"The study suggests that many of the available products are effective in treating osteoporosis sufferers, yet there is little evidence to support differentiation of the products based on effectiveness," commented Dr. Warren Levy, President and CEO of Unigene. "The study also indicates that adherence to the therapy is an important factor in patient outcome. We hope that this study will encourage physicians and patients to recognize that, if there are acceptable alternatives for patients with osteoporosis or low bone density, and long-term therapy is desirable, then the side effect/safety profile of each drug should be considered carefully before treatment decisions are made."

I also have read numerous articles in the last 24 hours and have heard on television that theses drug are causing irregular heartbeat in women.
Another major setback for women taking this poison. I knew it would not be long before they realized these drugs would start causing MAJOR problems. I hope every woman reads this post and contacts their dr. Atrial fibrilation can be very serious and puts women at risk for a stroke. When is the FDA going to pull this off the market???

A study has been published which reveals the relationship between bisphosphonates (such as Fosamax) and bone fractures. These drugs turn out to harden the bone, not build it as Merck marketed. The harder the bone gets, the more brittle it becomes. To find out more, visit the http://fosamaxfemurfracturelawsuit.com

Biphosphonates like Fosamax has been known to cause various adverse effects. But I think most drugs can lead to harm if taken for a long time. You can ask your doctor for alternative pain and or bone medications. http://www.hiprecalllaw.com

Complaints from Fosamax users regarding adverse events are indeed mounting. These problems are on top of the Fosamax side effects disclosed by Merck the manufacturer of the drug.

Various news have already sprouted regarding the negative effects of certain medicines like Fosamax and Avandia. Reports also include defective medical products like the DePuy hip replacement. The webpage http://www.depuyhipreplacementlawsuit.com explains this matter in a more detailed manner.

No surprise here. CDC and FDA approved and licenced that is rubber stamped without either proper safety research, or with fraudulent reporting. These agencies are no doubt allowing the use of these for profit medications as a measure of experimental safety testing.

As for Fosamax, I've already read about it in http://www.fosamaxfemurfracturelawsuit.com/fo... . But does Avandia works the same as Fosamax? If so, then we really have to worry.

Osteoporotic patients rely on Fosamax in a bid to keep painful fractures at bay. It is indeed disheartening to know that certain osteoporosis medications may potentially bring about these very complications they have been formulated to help prevent. It may come as no surprise that Fosamax lawsuits and other legal claims have started to grow in number. Visit http://www.fosamax-lawsuit.net for relevant information pertaining to Fosamax and its side effects, as well as legal actions taken by some users.

This needs more monitoring and that the Food and Drug Administration should look into this as well. I came across a site talks more about the issue at www.fritzbailey.webs.com

People should be well-informed of the dangers of taking drugs for a long time without knowing its side-effects. This is even more imperative since the dangers of bisphosphonates like Fosamax are very well-known and the source of so much legal controversy. To know more about Fosamax and osteoporosis read this: http://www.fosamaxclassactionlawsuit.com

The problem with drugs is the known and unknown side effects. Drug companies conduct the research and trials and pick and choose what they will tell the FDA and public. Neither one can be trusted for the "whole" truth. The doctors only know what they are told and also put their trust in the reports. Better to look for natural methods, dietary changes, supplements and exercise. The cure is most often worse than the disease. Big Pharma needs customers to grow profits. The results are raising/lowering normal standards to put more people on prescription meds. More people die every year from prescription drug side effects and overdose that in car accidents. Prescription Medicine is dangerous to your health. Be informed. Do your research before you take any prescription drug.
