Sneaking & Eating with Eczema

I've had atopic eczema all my life. When I was a kid I would sneak and eat foods I know I shouldn't have eaten (like cookies, ice cream cones, cake and pudding mix) because I frustrated with my limited diet. My mom even said that if I hadn't sneaked and ate my trigger foods, my eczema would've been gone by now (at least that's what the doctor told her).
So is what my mom told me true? And has anyone ever ate their trigger foods despite knowing what it would do to their eczema has a child? I need to know these things.
