Too right. Not only that but Lisa Petersen plumbs new depths of ignorance in her explanation of the causes of eating disorders, particularly anorexia nervosa. The idea that "eating disorders develop as symptoms of other things" has been so thoroughly debunked as an explanation that it's embarrassing to see a provider still go on record as believing it. Anorexia nervosa is a brain disorder caused by powerful but poorly understood brain chemistry. It's like other brain disorders such as autism and schizophrenia, which are themselves biological illnesses just like cancer or diabetes. Ms. Petersen is a quack, pedaling discredited theories to make a buck. It's a shame the Oroville Mercury Register can't distinguish snake oil from science. But then again that might take a little research. For some facts on anorexia nervosa see or this post (from 2005!! And we are still spouting this nonsense!).
