A Cleveland Clinic study, presented at the annual SLEEP 2012 conference in June, shows that use of positive airway pressure for obstructive sleep apnea is also linked with improving depression symptoms.

I had serious problems with depression and out of desperation used everything I could get my hands on to make a difference i.e. therapy, medication, biofeedback, etc. As soon as I was treated for sleep apnea my life did a 180.
Then CPAP therapy no longer functioned and I immediately fell back into the hole. After CPAP, I tried MADs (which worked well until they broke), surgeries from doctors who suggested them willy nilly without investigating my airway blockage, etc.
I took the bull by the horns and went to a sleep specialist (the Dr. That read my sleep studies). He suggested a highly recommended ENT Dr. Rudman in the Kansas City area. I went to him and did a sleep endoscopy (find the source of hindered airflow via video while drugged to sleep).
From this I had a partial glossectomy done via a da Vinci robot as my tongue deep down in my throat was significantly obstructing my airway and then I could breathe from the moment I woke up from surgery. I was only his tenth surgery via the robot and it's a new procedure expecially in the area! I can't describe how impossibly desperate I was before then and I am continuing to improve three months out and the surgery was easier than getting my tonsils out.
Dr. David T. Rudman changed my life. I no longer wear a CPAP btw.

Depressed mood is not necessarily a psychiatric disorder. It is a normal reaction to certain life events, a symptom of some medical conditions and a side effect of some medical treatments.

Years ago I had a girlfriend that had to have sex to relax before going to sleep. It was a great way to say good night. All you married people try it a few nights. If nothing else it will draw you closer to your spouse.

Lack of a good nights sleep is the affects a lot functions in our bodies. The body needs to rest to rejuvenate. My wife has struggled with depression and sleep disruption disorders for over 14 years. She has to snack or drink tea while driving just to remain awake when she drives to work. We tried everything from pillows that keep you on your side, elevating the head of the bed by 4 inches, nasal strips, etc... We finally found a simple device that has allowed her to get sound sleep and she has been gradually reducing her depress medications as a result. The site where we discovered this is http://www.SnoringReliefNow.com There is a short video that explains how it works and the best part is you can try it for free.
