Finally someone understands what it means to be individual. And that you will be hired if you have the knowledge needed.<quoted text>
Yay! When people walk in the door with the right skills and education, and they are good at what they do, who cares???
Being creative and being able to express that in your wardrobe is not a bad thing. I wouldn't want to hire someone who was unable to assert thier individuality from the masses.
As for all this talk of teenagers and jobs...the economy here in the US is terrible. No one wants to hire ANYONE. We are in a recession, but no one will make that actual statement.
There was a big article in our paper the other day about how teens aren't able to get summer jobs. It is unfortunate, but teens are the first to feel the effects of a negative economy. They apply for jobs and they have little or no experience. Other people who are getting second jobs, or getting an entry-level job because they were laid off knock the teens right out of the running- they have more experience.
Emo trend in teens promotes depression chic

You'd consider people who wear the uniform of Emo as individualistic? Anarchy rules, dude. PD (add www) presstotest.blogspot.com |
Yes a lot of jobs do require uniforms but you still have to be interviewed for the job. If you get cleaned up and look professional at the interview then it's not going to matter what you look like in your free time. There is always discrimination when hiring, simply picking someone more qualified than someone else is discrimination against the underqualified person but it is only illegal discrimination if the decision is based upon sex, race, sexual orientation, or disability. Even then it is pretty naive to think that companies won't get around it by stating other reasons for disqualification. |

There is someone who cares about you. There is always someone who cares about you. You just don't realise for a while. I felt the same way but now I have realised loads of people care about me, and soon you will realise that too. No one will ever understand why we are emo's, so don't bother trying to explain. You know why you are an emo and that is all that matters. Save your time and don't talk to these people, they think they know everything but really they know nothing. |

Aren't you "emo's" for the exact same reason that other humans would pretend to be punks, gangstas, cowboys or bikers? Gosh, You're such rebels.(Not.) PD |

I know an Emo who does a great impression of and Emu. Recently he got a part in a theatre production in Sacramento. Finally, he has found an outlet for his drama, and we can work in peace.

She's probably covered with cut marks all over and has a file as thick as your arm at Mental Health.

Sounds pretty self-centered too. I hope you don't drink on top of your self-absorption. You could wind up dead. |

Is it really necessary to poke fun at someone who is struggling in life? Whatever happened to either helping, or shutting your mouth and thanking God that you are not the one struggling? I'd rather be the above person with the mental health file than someone who has to come onto the Internet and make fun of people with such problems. Who really has the mental health issue here??? |

Did you come from an egg? Teens with rushes of hormones are walking time bombs. Were you a teen? Perhaps you don't remember how easily you were influenced? They don't need any more attention than any other person. A lot of this is hormonal and typical of that stage in life. To further play it up, is just adding fuel to the fire. I believe some good hard kicks in the behind of life are what push us forward. If you cannot survive what millions of others went through, then I feel sorry for you. They are not unique, this is NOT new. Get over yourself. Are you a codependent? |

No, I was a teen once and I felt similar to this person- I came from a difficult situation and didn't feel like anyone cared. It was not hormones or someone not taking me to the prom; it was severe depression and I often felt like just ending it all. People who are in emotional pain need to be taken seriously and not mocked, if they are 15 or 115. I've survived it, I'm here, aren't I? I think, considering the circumstances, I've thrived, really. "Get over yourself. Are you a codependent?" What is it that I am getting over? And I'm not a codependant...how would you feel if your ignorant comments made someone go out and harm themselves? Is it codependent to NOT want that to happen? I wonder what kicks you've experienced in life. As a person who has had a few, I am sensitive to the plight of others who are enduring them. |
