Hey...I'm on month 4 of my six months of accutane. I'm sixteen and a junior in high school. I'm also a female.

With accutane, I have found that my skin is extremely dry (I use cetaphil) and I use Nivea Hydration essential for my lips (because otherwise they start burning). The first month, my acne was crazy, and even in my third month I got acne on my cheeks (and I have never gotten acne on my cheeks before). I also got my period 1-2 weeks early (my derm said it was normal) and I have started getting migraines - sometimes it is just a flash of sudden, intense pain on the side of my head. I also am more irritable, and I can't concentrate on things as long as I could. I find myself more tired, and require "naps".

My appetite has also decreased, and I have to force myself to eat snacks, because my meal portions have decreased. I also had some chest pains and my ankles were weaker, but my doctors ruled out all possibilities.

Oh yes! My hair used to be thick, curly and I loved it. Now it's this flat thing on my head. Will I get my hair back after I'm done accutane?

Also, with shaving and waxing, did anyone do it on the course of accutane. I tried not to, but once I had a jungle growing, I actually had to do it - I was going on vacation (a cruise)....

this stuff was horrible. I was on it for about a year and became clinically depressed. The depression didn't stop when I got off accutane but it started a few weeks into it. hair loss was awful, dry lips and skin except for the awful sweating everywhere but my face. fatigue, irritable, sad, angry, rage (have never had rage before), self-hatred, you name it. My acne cleared up and came back a few months after i got off. wasn't worth the torture that is depression.

It has been more than 2 years since I took accutane. I developed a really flaky dry skin, rosacea, IBS, thin hair, bad eyesight and my wounds heal really slow now. If I could turn back time I would have never taken this drug. Teenagers with acne shouldn't take this drug. It will go away, just give it some time, or look for alternatives. And don't pay attention to people that bully you or laugh with you, it just shows how close-minded they really are, and you don't need people like that in your life so fuck them! Don't let it bring you down! The PERMANENT side effects which you can get from this drug are so not worth the risk!

i'm into my third week of using accutane and i am experiencing some side effects. Drying of the lips was instant but my herbal Blistex works fine, occasional nose bleed and sinus drip to the back of the throat causing this hooping cough and nasal congestion especially at night. I am definitely worried about the mucus that has form on my chest causing me to have this cough. can it escalate to something more? the dry skin is minor that can be corrected by using creams such as Aveeno or Cetaphil. Acne is still present havent seen any clearing/results yet.
its the lotion it might make your acne worse good luck.

I'm finishing up my fifth month on Accutane. My dermatologist said I could do another month to finish with the recommended length of time.
First Month: Start using Blistex Moisterizer BEFORE the dry lips start and invest in tons of them. Do not scrub your face, it will melt off. Month Two: Horrible break outs deep in my skin. I'm a picker and I made it much worse. DO NOT PICK. It will scar! Contacts were fine. Pat dry your face after the shower. NO SCRUBS OR FACIALS!
Month Three: No new acne. Back had cleared up completely and chest. Face was constantly red because of slight sun burn. Weird rash looking thing on inner forearms and stomach that came and went til the end of 5th month. Derm said it was probably from dry skin.
Month Four: Mild mood swings.. mostly crying at anything related to dying. Haha. Weird, I know. Extreme back pain in the morning. Drink lots of water!
Month Five: Ingrown toenail. Both sides of my big toe. Hurts like crazy. Eyes are dry, with or without contacts. Hair loss was minimal until now, not a lot, but noticeable in the shower. Moisterize everyday with CeraVe. Helps so much! Aveeno lotion on arms and back.
My face is completely different!
Note: Blue Cross and Blue Shield Federal paid for it.$10 a month out of pocket. I started on Claravis and was told by my Derm to switch to Amnesteem, Claravis isn't packaged correctly and ingredients aren't 100% effective. Look around to see who has it available. Most will have to order it, which only takes a day or so. Started with 40mg 1 daily, second month and on 40mg 2 daily.
Hope that helped! Good luck on your journey!:)

I got my eyebrows done, I believe during my third month of Accutane, and it literally ripped my skin off. Didn't hurt that bad when I left, but the next day it was BRIGHT red and looking scabby. Most salons will have an * at the bottom of their services saying that they will NOT service you until 6 months OFF Accutane. And for good reason! Shaving is the only option. Nair, waxing, laser, etc are all going to cause extreme pain.
I lost a lot of weight on Accutane, mostly diet, but not eating junk food too to help my oily face. Decreased appetite didn't show until 3rd month.
I do still have random headaches that last an hour or so. It's because you need to drink more water. Guaranteed.
My hair is normally very curly but I bleached it while on Accutane. Bad idea. I screamed halfway through because the bleach burned my head. It's more relaxed than it used to be but I'm not sure if its the Accutane or damage.
Good luck on your last two months!

I have been on this from http://g-isotretinoin.info for 3 months now and have noticed a massive improvement of my acne. The acne on my back is practically non existent and the amount on my face has dramatically improved. I got lots of comments today saying how face has cleared up since I last saw these people 2 weeks ago. I now have much less acne on my face and it expected to all be gone in 3 more months forever. I am currently on 60mg a day one at morning and 2 at night and I am a 15 year old female. I have had some back pain when I play my weekly sport and dry lips but that is all the side effects I have had.

I started Accutane when I was 17. My skin looked really bad. I had pimples on my face approaching the size of dimes. The acne went over my shoulders, down the front of my chest and down to the bottom of my back. I tried all the creams and fancy products and nothing worked. My doctor finally put me on a round of Accutane from http://g-acne-treatment.info . The first dose I was on for a couple of months didn't do much, so the doctor doubled it. Within six months, my acne was almost all gone and I stopped treatment. Within 18 months I had zero acne and zero scarring - my skin was utterly flawless and still is. I am now basically cured of acne - less than half a dozen pimples in ten years. Miracle.

I'm 14 years old and last year I went on acnetane (What we call it here in SA) and it worked perfectly. Exept for the miner side effects like dry eyes and dry lips. I was only on it for a month and it didn't make me feel depressed at all. I gave myself a 5 month gap, and now I'm on it once again because unfortunately, both my parents had severe acne. I have only been on it for 13 days, and I'm experiencing the usual dry lips, dry eyes type of thing. But a strange thing is, is that I'm having horrible heart burn. Maybe its because I don't want to skip a day of training? Is anyone else expiercing this? Help?(:

I fought with acne throughout my teenage years and tried everything to get rid of it (proactiv, neutrogena, retin-a, clean and clear, you name it). I experienced quite an initial breakout soon after I started accutane but was expecting it and told myself my skin would get better. Iím now in the last week of my treatment and my skin is flawless. I havenít had a single zit in 3 months, and scars from my previous breakouts are fading. If your in doubt that accutane can solve your acne frustrations, donít be. Survive the first two months or so of accutane and you will be rewarded with the complexion youíve always wanted.

I'm on my fourth month and although I had two months on the lowest dose, I really did think I'd see more improvement.
Oh well, month by month I guess...
Hi Avril,
My 17 year old is on her third month of 40mg. She has swollen eyes and seems different, achy body, I was trying to talk to her while taking her to school this morning, but teenagers, figure that.

Before I went on accutane from http://fastacnetreat.info I had tried EVERYTHING... constant Cremes, Benzyol Proxide, 3 different antibiotics, retin A Creme... you name it I used it. None of these things really worked for me; it would only suppress my acne. BTW.. I should inform everyone on here that I never had awful acne, I had moderately severe acne that I was sick of dealing with. I finally decided to go on accutain and I will admit I was really scared. Thr first two months were rough not going to lie; after those two months my face started looking better and better. Now I have NO acne on my face just a couple on my back... it really is AMAZING. Don't let anyone stop you from taking this medication... it works and no one should suffer with acne!!! I have one more month so lets hope I get 100% clear!! I'm at about 88%
