Hi..i am a 40 years old mom just found out that i am few weeks pregnant..its my second one after having my daughter 16 years ago.its kinda a surprised and didnt expect to be pregnant at this age after a long due waiting but we all happy with the news.

I am worried coz beside taking peroxetine12.5mg for panic attack , i am also taking lipitor 10mg(high cholesterol) and metformin (500mg x3) for my diabetes . but the good thing is i am getting off with paroxetine which i took 12.5mg every other..my doctor told me i could stop taking it after month. but when i found out i was pregnant 2 days ago..i totally stop takign paroxetine and also lipitor..i know these medications shouldnt be stop drastically but i have no choice once i knew that i am pregnant.

but the thing is i dont know whether its safe to do so and would not do any harmful to my unborn baby....really i am not sure if i am doing the right decision.

I hope theres somewhere out there who got the same similar problems as i am and willing to share her experiences here.

thank you. god bless !

Dear mama of 40's,
I certainly can't speak from personal experience, but I would think that taking any kind of anti-depressant drugs,(yes, they are drugs, not just "meds") during pregnacy would be very dangerous to the fetus.

These drugs are very dangerous, and you really have no idea the birth defects that might result from taking them. Risky, would be a major understatement. The answer should be no under any circumstances.

There are natural ways to deal with depression. Aqua therapy, natural minerals and vitamins, gentle massage, leisure activities such as walking, gentle stretching, and since you said, "God bless"....prayer above all.

And...God bless you and your baby. Certainly, He would want you to have a normal healthy pregnacy and healthy baby when the happy day arrives :)

You can discuss these feelings with your doctor. If your uncomfortable in taking this drug you can ask for other options from your doctor or can manage your panic attack with other therapies. Paxil does have high risk for birth defects, you can go to this site http://www.paxilbirthdefectlaw.com/paxil-prem... .

There is indeed no difference between generic antidepressants and the ones with a known name. It is still under the same category. Like Paxil and other SSRI, they act solely on the levels of serotonin in the brain. Although the side effects may vary. Paxil is known for the birth defects that it can cause to babies born from mothers who were taking it on their first trimester of pregnancy. Other side effects of Paxil can be found in this site http://www.paxilbirthdefectlaw.com/paxil-side... .

The U.S.  Food and Drug Administration had issued a warning in 2005 that studies have shown a higher risk of birth defects on pregnant women taking Paxil compared to other drugs. These are usually cases where Paxil was taken during the early months of pregnancy. Congenital birth defects from antidepressants vary in forms. They range from coronary ailments to slow developmental growth among babies of mothers who took antidepressants. It is advised that you talk these issues with your doctor before taking any drug medication as chemicals in drugs cross the placenta and will likely affect the baby in the womb.

Taking antidepressants while pregnant may bring about severe side effects to the fetus. Taking antidepressants during the first trimester puts the fetus at risk of developing birth defects. On the other hand if antidepressants are taken during the third trimester would let the baby undergo withdrawal after delivery. Related URL: http://www.zoloftsertralinebirthdefects.com/u...

Nobody has really addressed the biggest issue of all:

If someone who is taking ANY medication watches ambulance-chasing attorney commercials, it makes everyone think about the harmful effects of stopping a drug cold-turkey if their drug is deemed harmful. Most women whose babies have these congenital defects likely were taking the drug before they became or knew they were pregnant. The major organ and blood vessel formation, and most congenital defects, occur between weeks 6 and 12. Before stopping a med cold-turkey, discuss with your doctor whether it would be better for your baby in the long run to risk exposure or withdrawal. It will depend on you, your doctor, and whether or not your depression/anxiety is lessened or worsened without it. There are people whose mental illness is so severe that without antidepressants, they are a danger to themselves and others. It's a personal choice. I am learning to pray when anxious. It does help.

Naturally, I am skeptical of everything online. http://inhousegeneric.com is legitimate. I placed my first order for the smallest amount possible. It arrived sooner than expected. I didn't pay the extra money for speedy air mail. I placed another order that was much larger and it came right on time. I will definitely use this company again for even larger orders now that I trust them. They also give you discounts every time you place an order which is cool. One thing to keep in mind is if you place a larger order, they will send half in one shipment, and then the other half after that to avoid customs scrutinizing your package. I am very happy, I no longer need to pay tons of money to see a doctor and therapist (and have them tell me a bunch of stuff I already know) in order to get my medication.

have been researching for months and reading reviews for each pharmacy and finally decided to take the plunge and order from one. After coming to the conclusion http://goo.gl/bLFWQG seemed the most safest and had the best feedback I ordered my pills. Was very apprehensive at first due to cc fraud, ell and they are good i would definetely recommend and purchase againspam and being generally ripped off (have not received one spam email and no cc fraud) order process and checkout was simple.
placed my order on my debit card and was charged straight away and received confirmation email immediately. choose the speedy del trackable and was advised del would be 7-9 days and order was placed on the 08/01. was just about to email them today to chase up as now 15 days but behold package had been posted through my door. packaging seems as shown on webiste. apart from small delay on advertised shipping time i have been generally please with the pharmacy.
wont be taking the pills for another few weeks yet but all going well and they are good i would definetely recommend and purchase again from them.

I've been on Effexor from http://goo.gl/TRCx1y only one week but am cautiously very optimistic. Prior to this I was on citalopram but still feeling very low and sleeping poorly, feeling like I needed to be in bed 12-16 hours a day. Now I am waking naturally after only 8 hours sleep and finding it much easier to concentrate at work. I can hardly believe it is working so quickly but I feel so much better. I've had no side effects.
