I'm just very frustrated. And as I type, my evil stomach problems are back from my 20s. When I took effexor xr, it totally helped as if it wasn't even there. My new doctor was so damn adamant about helping me fill out the care to connect program form. When the company, told me I would be eligible. I just find out I'm bipolar 2.-_- But he was being very difficult and telling me how pristiq and abilify would help me. I tried to calmly talk to him, he would just snap at me, and I would feel so frustrated and helpless puppet in front of him. His eyes lit up when I mention ativan. When effexor xr was all I need and maybe a better support system. I just have my family. After going through all this and dealing with the insurance, how would he know effexor xr, can't be good, he doesn't know my body. He just met me today. I know alot of this is out of topic with the new medications, but I don't know what to do. Should i just give up?=( Miserable.....

I had always taken the orginial Effexor until they changed it on me without knowing . Things went terribly wrong in March of 2011 I tried a suidice attempt. It was not until now I found this site and have realized its the generic brand od Effexor causing these problems. Thank you all for saving my life I have called my Dr and he has taken me off the generic and put me back on the real Effexor. It to months before I able to find what was wrong. I feel better already. I am bipolar and have been on Effexor since 06 with no severe problems. Again thank you all for your post. You saved mu life. Darlen in Texas

research any medicine that the Dr gives you! These new meds are awful for side effects. Dr doesn't know your body and they get upset when you question them. Hang in there.

I went to ConsumerLab.com that tested Wellburtin and wrote to them about the generic Effexor. They may test it next. Still it took a few years before they pulled the Wellburtin and only one company at that. It always helps to have more people report it.

Thanks I won't give up. I finally found a good doctor. I think, if people found a good doctor who worked harder, like understood patients, people would be well. I know, I feel I would work harder if I were one, if the shoe was on the other foot. Everyone else, please don't give up either....-_-

I wonder if we can also write to the president about issues like this? Just a thought. The FDA really needs to be whipped into shape, seriously.

I just started taking the generic form of Effexor XR because my insurance requires the generic if available. Has anyone else had problems taking the generic form? I have been on it for 5 days and I am so sick. My bones ache, I have a terrible headache and I have been throwing up for 2 days....
Yes - My husband can not take it either. He just goes down hill so fast. A day or two and he s angry and depressed.

If the pill has effexor written on it, then they did not give you the generic
Mine is supposed to be generic too, but it says effexor on it too. I go to target, and the bottle says it is generic, but the pills say effexor. Strange, I pay the generic price too. I also have medco for insurance.

Everyone who has posted here should go to the FDA website and report this problem. You can do this online by using the folloiwng link:
https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/medwat...
(Click the button that says "BEGIN")

As for me, I have had many of the issues mentioned here. Severe acid reflux, nausea, insomnia, irritability, shakes, etc. I never had these problems in the past when I took the brand name version, and I took those for several months. I am also glad I found this forum and glad to know it's not only me that has these issues.

I am going to talk to my doctor about getting the real deal and noting that it's "Medically Necessary" on the prescription (that usually gets the insurance company to pay for it).

Here is the real problem with taking generics and switching generic brands at any time. The generics are allowed to be off their labeled dose by 20%. Thats a huge savings if you think about it to a large company. Now lets suppose you have been taking venlafxine from a more reputable firm and then your pharmacy switches to a company that skimps on dose, well then you may experience a 20% drop in your dose. This is no small thing with venlafaxine. It should be criminal but in fact the FDA allows it??? So now I ask you who is the FDA really working to protect....as they say....follow the money

That's quite a statement-exactly where is the legislation that permits this ????

Given that generics are clearly labelled with their precise dosage any deviation from that would amount to misrepresentation quite apart from the medical implications disinformation has been referred to before and if your post is an example of this I would be interested to know why?

http://pharmacistsletter.therapeuticresearch....

Although the link above refers specifically to seizure medications, it gives some information on how generic drugs differ from brand name drugs. I found it very interesting and can see how this might correlate to SSRI/SNRI drugs as well.
