My severely depressed son just returned from a "low-cost" mental health treatment office. They can't get him into a doctor (hence no medication) until late November.

If he wasn't struggling with depression/anxiety maybe he could get a job with insurance benefits or afford private insurance. THEN he could see a private doctor and get cared for right away.

Until then it's sit and wait and be sick and miserable. If he was rich or had insurance his illness wouldn't be put off. He'd be treated right away.

So, there's the gist. There is no REAL help if you aren't lucky enough to afford it.

Its true that medications and therapy is costly but one needs to remember that no one will you unless you help yourself. Its good that your son is still able to go to a center. You can just encourage him to do his best because moral support from family is very important for their recovery. Visit to know how SSRIs affect the body.
