I would encourage any Christian suffering from depression to only seek counseling from Christian sources. Do not seek advice from someone who does not share your beliefs. I did and really paid a price for it. The counselor, Dr. John F. Childress of RACSB, an ex-Catholic, made judgemental comments about my beliefs and seemed like he was out to discredit me. It is a spiritual battle! And you don't want it to be a case of the blind leading the blind.
I also believe that antidepressants are overprescribed and can give false hope to people.

Are you trying to be judgemental?

YES, YES, YES!!! Trust in GOD, for only HE can "cure" depression. The world and liberal Christians rest too easily on the notion that depression is a mental thing...IT IS NOT!!! It is a spiritual matter and must be dealt with spiritually. You cannot blame others or some circumstance for your depression; it must be dealt with humility and sacrificial love.

I'm not sure that I agree. I sort of agree, but part of me doesn't. Anyway, it isn't always an option to choose who will help you - I have had to accept help from wherever I could, and been really grateful to the kind people, whatever their religion, that have stooped to help me.
I am a christian, and I believe other christians who believe the Bible do encourage you to keep the faith, but some some church goers are harsh and bigoted and that can be very damaging to a person who is so far down that they are virtually crawling through life on their hands and knees.

I agree completly with what you say about antidepressants though.

It sounds terrible what your councillor, Dr John F Childress, of RACSB did to you though. Oh well, lets give him some free publicity, so that other people can choose (or not) to use his services! I'm sure he deserves it! heh heh heh!
